Proud Brother

For this layout, I used Webster’s Pages Wonderfall papers, trim, bloomer, diecut sticker and alphas. I handstitched the “strings” on the balloones that overlap the striped paper.

Created based on Let’s Capture These Sketches Sketch#67. This lo will also be submitted to Sketches in Thyme, Scrap Whispers (use fabric and material) and Two Peas in a Bucket.

Super man?

Inspired by the song Superman (it’s not easy) by Five for Fighting.

This one is for Alex’s album, but has one of the same photos as “Fall Attitude” in Madison’s album.

The morning started w/me trying to get Alex to change his shirt before school, but he really wanted to wear this shirt. It was Madison’s first day of Kindergarten at the “big kid” school and she was soooo excited…until we got there. Then she was just terrified. I had Alex, Madison, Matthew and Christian who was just 2 months old with me and I was trying to figure out how to escort her in w/all of them when Alex asked me if he could please take her. I was so relieved! He was our hero that day. Later I was thinking how appropriate that shirt was after all. 🙂

That same day, he had show and tell at school and he took his stuffed animal (Yoshi) to school, so I got a couple of pics of him at the bus stop.

This layout is for a challenge at Back Porch Memories to use a song title. The song Superman (it’s not easy) by Five for Fighting immediately came to mind not just because of his shirt, but also because the lyrics say “it’s not easy to be me” and that he’s only a man, etc. Alex is a fantastic older brother so it’s easy to forget that he’s only 9 and still vulnerable himself. It’s also based on a sketch provided by sketchabilities for a challenge on Sketches in Thyme.

I used Webster’s Page Wonderfall on this lo, along with some of their trim and sparklers. Prima pearls, Tattered Angels Shimmer mist, Maya Road chipboard butterfly.

Best Buddies Layout

For this lo, I used MME’s Lost and Found Collection. This time, I used the Portobello Road range. The base paper is Cowboy from the “Boy” set, and I also used Flannel from the “Buddies” set. I used a couple small pieces off of the “Boy” Glittered Diecut paper to accent as well. The trim, brads, tag and dimensional stickers are all MME. I used a touch of Tattered Angels glimmer glaze, Shimmerz spritz and Color Box ink. Handstitched w/white thread for contrast. I used the sketch by Anam Stubbington provided on MME’s blog for their challenge #19. To take a look or enter, CLICK HERE.

Review – My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found Collection

From their Wild Asparagus range to Tres Jolie to Lost and Found, one thing I’ve always loved about My Mind’s Eye is the heavy weight and texture of their cardstock. For this layout I used the Moments papers from the Union Square range. A great feature to this line is that they’ve already included glittered elements on the papers that really make the gorgeous details pop! I didn’t have any lettering that were the color I wanted, so I used white alphas by Pink Paislee, inked them w/distress ink and embossed them which created a really cool marbled affect.

MME also offers many items that coordinate with their products. There are trims, tags, buttons, brads, dimensional stickers, stamp sets and chipboard mini-albums that go with each range in this line. You can see more of their fantastic designs HERE.
