Beach Memories – dt layout for Sketchabilities

For my example of sketch #100 at sketchabilities, I used the 4 Nautical themed wood cuts by Creative Embellishments and their laser cut Life Preserver chipboard piece. CE is also sponsoring this challenge and offering a $20 gc prize to one lucky winner! 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

beach memories

The compass, star and life preserver are actually navy blue, but look black in the pic. I was also inspired by the challenge at 7 Dots Studio to incorporate “memories” into the page and the challenge at scrapki-wyzwaniowo to use the colors green, yellow and blue.

Materials:

Creative Embellishments anchor, boat wheel, compass and star wood cuts
CE Life Preserver chipboard
CE flourish
7 Dots Studio 9th Wave and Wonderland paper
Drywall tape
gesso
Modeling paste
TH timpiece
TH corked vial
Jute
acrylic paint
Liquitex acrylic ink
Lindy’s Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Inks
LSG Starburst Spray
Cardboard and tissue paper from my stash

Dreams – Layout for Flying Unicorn’s June 3-9 sketch challenge

Each month, the Flying Unicorn forum features many different challenges that are sure to appeal to scrappers of all styles and preferences. One of the challenge categories is a weekly sketch. This is my first time playing along and I must say the example by their dt and the other entries are FABULOUS. Browsing through their gallery filled with gorgeous creations is sure to inspire…and I am hoping to learn new things and expand artistically.

For my take on this week’s sketch, I used Webster’s Pages Country Estate papers. Again, I’ve rescued older papers from a future of gathering dust and never seeing the light of day. 😉 Here’s what I came up with:

Scrapbook Kits with a Difference August Challenges

The August SKWAD (Scrapbook Kits with a Difference) challenges are now live on the blog! Stop by and check out the dt’s fabulous examples and play along for your chance to win a fun scrappy prize! 😀

First up, we have the August Sketch Challenge. For my example, I went with Prima’s Meadow Lark collection. Everything used on my page is by Prima except the bit of trim from my stash (not sure who it is by). Here’s what I came up with:

This is the fantastic sketch by Annette Gearside:

The second challenge is the Inspiration Challenge. The Inspiration Challenge isn’t just about the colours – you may find yourself inspired by the image design, pictures or themes. You are also able to create an altered project, card, mini-album or art journal page for this challenge! 😀

Here’s what I came up with for the challenge (I was inspired by the colors and added white since it’s widely featured in the images. I also added scrolled chipboard pieces inspired by the chair and fence at the top of the inspiration image):

The papers and tag are Spring Jubilee by Pink Paislee, the cushies alphas are also by PP. The flowers are by Prima and the painted chippies are by Dusty Attic. I used a Martha Stewart round the page punch for the border.

Here’s the gorgeous inspiration pic for August:
