Son, Spread Your Wings – dt layout for Sketchabilities

Sketch #106 at Sketchabilities is now live! For my example for the challenge, I decided to go with a neutral background and pops of blue, rusty orange and metallics to compliment my photo of my oldest son, Taten.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to replace the circular elements and flourishes with Creative Embellishments gears and that fabulous steampunk clock and gear cluster I’ve been saving for the perfect page. Here’s what I came up with:

Spread Your Wings

Love & Happiness – dt layout for Sketchabilities sketch #99

***(HINT HINT)READ TO THE END***I’m so excited to share my first layout as part of the Sketchabilities team! I’m honored to be working with such talented crafters! Please be sure to stop by the Sketchabilities challenge blog to see all the fabulous examples they’ve created for sketch #99. 😀

For my page I just HAD to use Webster’s Pages. I think everyone has their favorite manu’s and their standbys. For me, WP is my go to manu. Whether I’m looking for their gorgeous classic papers, a soft pattern or a bold one, I’m sure to find just the right combination with their collections. I have to admit though, I’m totally guilty of HOARDING my WP. They’re so beautiful that sometimes it’s really hard to make myself USE them, cut into them, layer and not just admire them. lol Here’s what I came up with for sketch #99 using a combination of WP’s Palm Beach and Everyday Poetry:

The incredible sketch I got to work with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages papers, sparklers, cameo, frame, journaling card, fabric ticket and flower
October Afternoon stickers and flower sack bits
Freckled Fawn polaroid frames
Prima wood pieces
Tim Holtz distress stains, paints and washi tape
jute
gesso
acrylic paint
Pitt big brush pen
doily
sizzix die cut flourish

Our Home on the Range – layout for SWAT drill #12

The S.W.A.T. drill #12 is a fun sketch by Lanette with an added twist. You can only use patterned paper, no solid cardstock or papers on your layout. The prize you’re playing for is a Webster’s Pages grab bag put together by Lanette and all entries are due by 11:59 pm EST on the 28th of this month.

For my take on the sketch, I chose Sasparilla papers and stickers by October Afternoon. They were perfect for my pics of Christian dressed up in Matthew’s Woody (from Toy Story) Halloween costume from last year. He’s wearing the fake boots and the cutie hat and sitting on top of their Lego table. To create a little scene, I fussy cut one of the pics and perched him on the fence chippy layered w/some Dusty Attic laser cut chipboard pieces. This is how it turned out:

This is the fabulous sketch Lanette came up with for the challenge:

Materials:

October Afternoon Sasparilla papers, chipboard stickers, cardstock stickers, alphas
Dusty Attic chipboard
burlap
Acrylic paint
Iridescent Medium
gesso

Adhesives:

Scotch ATG
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar liquid scrap dots
