Journey – Case File No. 160 CSI Color Stories Inspiration and Creative Embellishments

I’m up on the Creative Embellishmentsย blog today sharing how I cracked the CSI Color Stories Inspiration Case File No 160. CE is one of the CSI sponsors this month! ๐Ÿ˜€ After taking a really long break from crafting, it was really fun to get my hands dirty and get a little grungy with this one. Sketch challenges have always been a fave of mine and I’m always especially challenged by color challenges, so this was a great way for me to get my feet wet again. ๐Ÿ˜€ I went with this pic of Larry and Alex at the best 2 years ago. Yes…I am STILL scrapping those pics. lol Anyway, here’s what I came up with:

Beach Canvas – dt project for Creative Embellishments

Since I didn’t get to provide an example for the June Creative Embellishments challenge this month, I thought it would be fun to create one for my Thursday project. Here’s the canvas I created to go with the inspo image and nautical theme this month:

Beach Memories – dt layout for Sketchabilities

For my example of sketch #100 at sketchabilities, I used the 4 Nautical themed wood cuts by Creative Embellishments and their laser cut Life Preserver chipboard piece. CE is also sponsoring this challenge and offering a $20 gc prize to one lucky winner! ๐Ÿ˜€ Here’s what I came up with:

beach memories

The compass, star and life preserver are actually navy blue, but look black in the pic. I was also inspired by the challenge at 7 Dots Studio to incorporate “memories” into the page and the challenge at scrapki-wyzwaniowo to use the colors green, yellow and blue.

Creative Embellishments anchor, boat wheel, compass and star wood cuts
CE Life Preserver chipboard

Love & Happiness – dt layout for Sketchabilities sketch #99

***(HINT HINT)READ TO THE END***I’m so excited to share my first layout as part of the Sketchabilities team! I’m honored to be working with such talented crafters! Please be sure to stop by the Sketchabilities challenge blog to see all the fabulous examples they’ve created for sketch #99. ๐Ÿ˜€

For my page I just HAD to use Webster’s Pages. I think everyone has their favorite manu’s and their standbys. For me, WP is my go to manu. Whether I’m looking for their gorgeous classic papers, a soft pattern or a bold one, I’m sure to find just the right combination with their collections. I have to admit though, I’m totally guilty of HOARDING my WP. They’re so beautiful that sometimes it’s really hard to make myself USE them, cut into them, layer and not just admire them. lol Here’s what I came up with for sketch #99 using a combination of WP’s Palm Beach and Everyday Poetry:

The incredible sketch I got to work with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages papers, sparklers, cameo, frame, journaling card, fabric ticket and flower
October Afternoon stickers and flower sack bits
Freckled Fawn polaroid frames
Prima wood pieces
Tim Holtz distress stains, paints and washi tape
jute
gesso
acrylic paint
Pitt big brush pen
doily
sizzix die cut flourish
