Creative Embellishments and Petaloo Product Swap Blog Hop

I’m up on the Creative Embellishments’ Blog toay, sharing a project I created for the cross promotion we’re having with Petaloo! I’m thrilled that I got to participate in this awesome product swap/blog hop between two amazing companies! Creative Embellishments’ fabulous laser cut chipboard, rubber stamps, etc. work beautifully with Petaloo products! Both are so much fun to create with! For the team up, we were asked to create a Mother’s Day themed project. For mine, I went in a different direction. Rather than something to gift to my mother or mil, I decided to create something for one of my children (now I’ll also have to create something for each of the others! LOL). Without my little ones, I would not get to be a mother and I’m thankful for this incredible honor. I do understand and appreciate the fact that not everyone who wants to have children are able to for various reasons, so I’m grateful to have each of them in my life. They’re so unique and talented in their own special ways and I love their similarities as well was their differences…even when they’re driving me nuts. LOL  Here’s what I came up with:

For this canvas, I used the CE Grunge Music Note Sheet Stamp with glossy medium to create a resist for the background. I then used Lindy’s Stamp Gang, Tattered Angels, and Maya Road Mists to add color to the background, then finished by using the CE Distressed Text Stamp and Distressed Corner Stamp with Staz-on ink to add more texture and visual layers. I altered the Leafy Corner Flourish Set, “Mother” from the Holiday Sentiment Word Set, and Scribble Heart by coating them first with white gesso, then applying Distress stains and paints. To decorate the Julie Nutting stamp by Prima, I stamped, fussy cut, then paper pieced from plain and patterned paper, added a bit of Webster’s Pages trim, colored her hair using PITT markers, and added shading to the doll and dress with distress inks. These are gorgeous Petaloo produts I got to work with from their Darjeeling collection: Dahlias (package of 10)- Teastained Purple, Dahlias – Teastained Teals, Garden Rosette (package of 6 plus 6 leaves) – Pink, Petites (package of 12 plus 12 leaves)- Teastained Purple, Petites – Teastained Teals, Petites – Teastained Pink, and Mini Butterflies (package of 8)- Teastained Purple. I loved that the Rosettes and packets of Petites came with leaves to go with them!

I hope you liked my project!

Valentine’s Treat Bag – Creative Embellishments

Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us and this year, I figured I would hand make some treat bags for the kiddos and make each of them unique. The one I’m sharing today was created for my daughter, Madison, using Prima papers, I am Roses flowers, and of course my favorite Creative Embellishments laser cut chipboard pieces and veneers! 😀 To create the base, I took a 12 x 12 sheet of card stock and scored the left and right 2.5″ in from the sides. I then rotated the paper 90 degrees and scored it at 5″ and 7″. I then folded it to create the center pocket and glued them in place. From there, it’s the fun part…embellishing! 😀 Since the paper I selected was kind of vintage looking, with muted colors, I decided to leave the chippies and wood pieces bare to lend it an earthy appeal. I hope you (and my daughter) like how it turned out!

Daddy’s Girl – Creative Embellishments and CSI 182

This month Creative Embellishments is sponsoring the challenges on CSI Color Stories Inspiration, so our team has been invited to guest design for them as well! I had a lot of fun cracking case #182. Their challenges are so unique since they combine color palettes with other criteria. For this case, I chose a white background, leaves/vines, mouse/other animal, and wet medium from the evidence category and chose the word “sweet” for my journaling. I attach journaling card to back of my layouts the majority of the time since it doesn’t tend to go with my design. I also like that including hidden journaling or a message on the back leaves a pleasant surprise for my children to find later. My journaling reads, “I have always loved watching your father play with you and your brothers, especially as babies. He’s so sweet and tender with you in particular since you’re our only daughter. It melts my heart and I get to fall in love with him all over again.”

Here’s how my page turned out:

Warm & Cozy – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi, everyone! It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. 😀 I snapped this normal everyday pic of Madison one day when then kids were all camping out in the living room. She’s all snuggled up in her favorite blanket which was given to her by a friend of mine before she was even born.

To create my background, I used the Creative Embellishments Bokeh stamp with some gelatos. It didn’t turn out quite how I’d intended because after stamping with it, I had wanted to blur the lines a bit and misted it with more water. Too much water. lol So It’s splotchier than it started out being. After that goof, I had to continue with it, so I went ahead and made the rest of the background to match. lol I altered both the flourish and the Out of this World chipboard pieces with gelatos as well, but went with an acrylic paint on the Chunky Alphas. Here’s how it turned out:

warm and cozy

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Circle Bokeh stamp
CE Out of This World frame
CE Chunky Alphabet
CE Flourish set 15
13 Arts papers
Webster’s Pages charm and clip
lace from my stash
Design Memory Craft gelatos
gesso
acrylic paint
prima flowers
doilies from my stash
Martha Stewart punches
Spellbinders die

For my page, I was inspired by the February mood board at Scrap Around the World:

SATW february moodboard

I liked the circular scattered elements in the background of the lower left image and the colors from the chevron image. I also incorporated a touch of metallic elements inspired by the lower right image.

I also went with the February 1st Stuck?! Sketch to create my page:

Last but not least, Scrap Africa’s challenge #26 is to incorporate altered chipboard, so I’m entering that challenge with my page as well. TFL!
