Moments – Layout for My Creative Sketches challenge

Each month, My Creative Sketches has an original sketch to inspire you to create. This month’s sketch by Michelle Fowler has some clean lines and geometric shapes. When I looked at it, everything I came up with was pretty clean and simple even though there’s quite a bit of layering in the design. So, rather than fight it, I went with it! When I think CAS, Teresa Collins is the first brand that comes to mind. Everything she creates is clean, elegant, well coordinated and has a touch of sophistication. Once I selected a fun trio of photos featuring my 3 youngest kids, I used the colors in the photos to ultimately choose TC’s Everyday Moments for this page. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s the fabulous sketch for May (due June 14):

Teresa Collins Everyday Moments papers, brad, diecuts, chipboard, bling and stickers
American Crafts light blue cardstock
Twine from the Twinery

June 2012 Class Kit for Scrapbook Kits with a Difference

This is my first month on the dt for Scrapbook Kits with a Difference. Each month, I will be sharing a projects created for the Inspiration Challenge and Sketch Challenges on their blog. I will also be sharing the layouts and/or projects I create for the monthly class kits. 😀 The kit I got to work with this month included Echo Park papers, a Hambly Screen Print transparency, twine, tags, ribbon, flowers and more! 😀 Here are the 2 layouts I created with the kit (I did not include anything extra except 1 sheet of Kraft paper, ink, adhesives and staples):

All Class Kits include complete instructions and everything you need to recreate the layouts shown as examples. For more information on all the available kits, CLICK HERE.

Sweet Happy Mischievous Grin’z’ – Layout for STTG #2, Prima BAP and SIWAS

For my dt example for level 2 of the STTG color challenge, I was inspired by a few other challenges that are going on right now. For level 2, you just need to pick 3 out of the 4 colors (lavender, ice blue, cream and gray) and 2 out of the 4 embellishments (pearls, bling, flowers and lace). The Meadow Lark papers by Prima were perfect for what I wanted to create and I saw that they currently have a Meadow Lark facebook challenge and a BAP sketch for March. Since I was already using the Meadow Lark papers, it was only natural that I combine the two with the STTG challenge. I then remembered that the current song for Scrap it with a Song is “Nothing Compares 2 You” by Sinead O’Connor. I used a variation of that by turning “you” into “your” in my subtitle, so now it reads: Nothing compares to your…sweet, happy, mischievous grin’z’ (I ran out of the letter S from the Dusty attic typewiter ABC set, so I just played around w/the titlework). Here’s what I came up with by combining these challenge elements:

Materials:

Prima Meadow Lark pp
Prima Meadow Lark flowers
Prima Meadow Lark metal trinket
Prima Meadow Lark Art Tile
Prima Meadow Lark alphas
Dusty Attic chipboard alphas
Canvas Corp Canvas sheet
Twine from The Twinery
acrylic paint
distress ink
Helmar Acrylic Sealer
Want 2 Scrap bling

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

Tools:

Martha Stewart Cherish Round the Page Punch
Martha Stewart Lace Doily border punch

3rd Birthday – Layout 2nd page for Pagemaps Challenge

I decided to create page that coordinates with the layout on my previous post. For the 2nd page of the layout, I used the current Pagemaps sketch, due midnight on Sunday, Feb 5, 2012 (MST). I used a lot of the same papers and materials to make the 2 pages more cohesive since they weren’t meant to be a 2 page spread (which I don’t tend to make anyway). I still wanted to show that the 2 pages go together for the same event. Since it goes with the previous layout, I did not add a title to this page and moved the journaling to work more for what I changed. Here’s my take on the sketch:

Materials:

October Afternoon Hometown and Daydreams pp
OA Modern Homemaker buttons
OA rubons
OA County Fair and Daydreams diecut shapes
OA Detours diecut journaling cards
Twine from The Twinery
Maya Road trim
Distress Ink

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Zap Dots
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
