Love Birds and Young Love – 2 dt layouts for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday again, which means I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog. This week, I have two layouts to share. 😀

I’ve never had a signature style and like to play around and experiment a lot, so my pages range all the way from CAS to very grungy and mixed media. I also love to play around with different challenges and techniques, so I’m a fairly eclectic scrapper. Anyway, this week I’m sharing two very different pages with you that use the same paper collection. For both pages, I used Webster’s Pages In Love papers. They had a bunch of challenges running this last week and I wanted to play along with them. 😀 As a matter of fact, the layout I shared last Thursday won Day 1 of their challenges! 😀

For this first page, I combined a sketch from Stuck on U Sketches (Nicolle, the owner of Creative Embellishments is on their dt) with the Webster’s Pages Scrap Your Stash Day 4 challenge – Use something metallic. I altered my chippies with Design Memory Craft Pitt markers in several different colors including silver. Here’s what I came up with:

Love Birds

For this second page, I took a much cleaner, straight forward approach for the WP Scrap Your Stash Day 5 – sketch challenge. I splattered several shades of shimmer mist onto my page w/the black background, making sure that the wood veneers that were on either side of my title got ample color to them. Here’s how it turned out:

Young Love

I decided to share both pages on the CE blog today to show how versatile Creative Embellishments products really are and how wonderfully they work with any style you can imagine! 😀

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Love Birds chipboard set
CE Showered With Love border
CE conversation hearts wood veneers
CE Hearts, Bows and Arrows Wood Veneers
Webster’s Pages In Love pp, fabric ticket, clips, bloomers, charms, lace, alphas
Lindy’s Stamp Starburst Mists
I am Roses flowers
Design Memory Crafts Pitt Artists Markers
Distress Ink

Alphabet Love – MME June sketch entry

It’s been quite a while since I played along with the fabulous challenges over on the My Mind’s Eye blog and when I saw this month’s sketch, I couldn’t resist. I had these pics of Christian I’ve been wanting to scrap and knew the MME sketch would be perfect for them!

Christian has been obsessed with the letters of the alphabet since shortly after his first birthday. Singing the alphabet, playing with foam letter shaped pieces, watching The Letter Factory by leapfrog and signing the letters with his tiny hands. He loved and still loves anything to do with letters. These pics were taken when he was 1 year and 4 months old, happily munching on Cheerios while he played with an alphabet toy. 😀

Here’s what I came up with for the MME challenge:

This is the fantastic sketch I worked with:

Materials:

MME Follow Your Heart “Be Amazing” papers, layered stickers, decorative buttons, paper clip and brads
MME Lost and Found II brad
Tim Holtz tissue tape
Webster’s Pages storyteller alphas
Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen Big Brush
acrylic paint

Adhesives:

Scotch ATG

Helmar 450 quick dry

Moments – Layout for My Creative Sketches challenge

Each month, My Creative Sketches has an original sketch to inspire you to create. This month’s sketch by Michelle Fowler has some clean lines and geometric shapes. When I looked at it, everything I came up with was pretty clean and simple even though there’s quite a bit of layering in the design. So, rather than fight it, I went with it! When I think CAS, Teresa Collins is the first brand that comes to mind. Everything she creates is clean, elegant, well coordinated and has a touch of sophistication. Once I selected a fun trio of photos featuring my 3 youngest kids, I used the colors in the photos to ultimately choose TC’s Everyday Moments for this page. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s the fabulous sketch for May (due June 14):

Materials:

Teresa Collins Everyday Moments papers, brad, diecuts, chipboard, bling and stickers
American Crafts light blue cardstock
Twine from the Twinery
Lindy Stamp Gang flat fabio mist
doily from my stash

Adhesives:

Scotch ATG
Helmar acid free glue

Tools:

Martha Stewart circle cutter

Dreams – Layout for Flying Unicorn’s June 3-9 sketch challenge

Each month, the Flying Unicorn forum features many different challenges that are sure to appeal to scrappers of all styles and preferences. One of the challenge categories is a weekly sketch. This is my first time playing along and I must say the example by their dt and the other entries are FABULOUS. Browsing through their gallery filled with gorgeous creations is sure to inspire…and I am hoping to learn new things and expand artistically.

For my take on this week’s sketch, I used Webster’s Pages Country Estate papers. Again, I’ve rescued older papers from a future of gathering dust and never seeing the light of day. 😉 Here’s what I came up with:
