Imagine Dream Believe Canvas – Creative Embellishments August Challenge

I love the inspiration image for the Creative Embellishments August Challenge. There’s just so much to draw from it! For my take on the challenge I decided to go with a canvas.ย I was inspired by the mushrooms, fairies and colors from the inspo image. For the twist, I fussy cut butterflies and dragonflies from some older Webster’s Pages journaling cards that I had in my stash. ๐Ÿ˜€

imagine dream believe no flash

I started my piece byย dabbing the blank canvas with jacquard paints in 2 different shades of purple. You can’t see it well because one is iridescent. Next, I painted my 6″ Large Steampunk Clock piece black and adhered it to the canvas slightly off center. I painted the Mushroom Set 1, Mushroom Set 2 and Mushroom Set 3 with white acrylic paint, then added the details using Pitt Markers. I blended white paint, modeling paste and coarse pumice to create the textured spots on the caps. The Wood Veneer Mushrooms were altered just using markers and the textured blend for the spots.

I then altered the Fairies by painting the wings black and the bodies white. Again, I used Pitt markers to decorate the bodies and jacquard paints to give the wings some iridescent sheen.

I used two of the title pieces from the Dream Word Set and one from the Inspire Word Set and altered them with white paint and marker.

I then added my fussy cut butterflies and dragonflies. ๐Ÿ˜€

I had a lot of fun with this challenge and I hope you will too! There’s just so much to draw from the inspo image this month and fussy cutting is one of my favorite techniques! ๐Ÿ˜€

Here’s this month’s inspo image (the twist is to fussy cut). To enter the challenge please be sure you incorporate at least 1 CE product on your project. ๐Ÿ˜€

Beach Canvas – dt project for Creative Embellishments

Since I didn’t get to provide an example for the June Creative Embellishments challenge this month, I thought it would be fun to create one for my Thursday project. Here’s the canvas I created to go with the inspo image and nautical theme this month:

Dare to Imagine…Just Dream – Canvas for Creative Embellishments

Hi, all! It’s Thursday again, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog. ๐Ÿ˜€ This week I decided to go with an altered canvas using a ton of different CE laser cut chipboard goodies. I wanted to make a piece with a theme that went with the idea…If you can dream it, you can build it. A piece about the imagination, creativity and innovation, so to start I picked panel pieces that reminded me of things in technology, science and circuitry to tie in the circuit board section I wanted to incorporate. I then selected steampunk chippies of inventions that are ground breaking in their own time. I frequently think about the brilliant minds behind our everyday technology that we all now take for granted. Inventions that I’m sure when originally thought of, were considered out of reach, far-fetched or even crazy. ๐Ÿ˜€ I also added wings to symbolize ideas taking flight, hearts soaring following the realization of dreams…following your heart.

Here’s what I came up with:

Though the hands on the clock are missing in this pic, I did remember to add them after I’d taken the photo. The hands are green so they stand out from the clock face and they point to my current age:

Sweet Happy Mischievous Grin’z’ – Layout for STTG #2, Prima BAP and SIWAS

For my dt example for level 2 of the STTG color challenge, I was inspired by a few other challenges that are going on right now. For level 2, you just need to pick 3 out of the 4 colors (lavender, ice blue, cream and gray) and 2 out of the 4 embellishments (pearls, bling, flowers and lace). The Meadow Lark papers by Prima were perfect for what I wanted to create and I saw that they currently have a Meadow Lark facebook challenge and a BAP sketch for March. Since I was already using the Meadow Lark papers, it was only natural that I combine the two with the STTG challenge. I then remembered that the current song for Scrap it with a Song is “Nothing Compares 2 You” by Sinead O’Connor. I used a variation of that by turning “you” into “your” in my subtitle, so now it reads: Nothing compares to your…sweet, happy, mischievous grin’z’ (I ran out of the letter S from the Dusty attic typewiter ABC set, so I just played around w/the titlework). Here’s what I came up with by combining these challenge elements:

Materials:

Prima Meadow Lark pp
Prima Meadow Lark flowers
Prima Meadow Lark metal trinket
