I Adore You card for My Mind’s Eye blog challenge

Each month, My Mind’s Eye posts a card and a layout challenge on their blog with a shared theme to go with the sketches by Anam Stubbington. This month, the theme is “You.” After making 3 girly cards full of pink, I wanted to create a masculine one, so I decided to make Larry a Valentine using this challenge. Here is my take on this month’s card sketch:

Riding with Barney Layout and a Birthday Card for Paper Secrets

The challenges at Paper Secrets are so much fun that I like to play along when I can too. Aside from my dt work for the monthly challenges, there are 2 progressive weekly challenges with which I now play along. One is SYAO2 (short for scrap your ass off…round 2) and the other is CYAO. Sign ups are closed for SYAO, but there’s still a little bit of time for progressive card challenge. If you’re not familiar with what a progressive challenge is, it’s one where everyone signs up to start at the same time and there’s a deadline for the first challenge, anyone who does not complete the challenge by the deadline or does not meet the requirements for the challenge, is disqualified and everyone else moves on to the next round. This continues until there is only 1 participant still scrapping. 😀 Since the first SYAO is still going strong (I think there are still 7 members in it to win it) and they’re on week #40, Kristi was nice enough to start a new round last week for all of us who have been waiting for a chance to play. 😀 For each week’s sketch there is a list of materials, of which participants need to select 4 out of the 8 items to use on their layout and also a list of techniques and we must use 1 out of the 3 listed. For my take on week #2’s sketch for SYAO2, I used ribbon, 3+ flowers, 3+ brads, staples and a border punch. For the technique I selected stamping. Here’s my take on the challenge:

Materials:
Jillibean Soup Minestrone Soup pp
Jillibean Soup felt flowers
Jillibean Soup brads
Jillibean Soup alpha stickers
trim from my stash
kraft paper
Jenni Bowlin tickets
Smash date stamper
Fiskars punch

Adhesives:

Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry

Next I have my card for week #1 of CYAO. For my stash items, I selected Core’dinations cardstock (2 different kinds), stamp and ink for my sentiment, a flower and sanding. Here’s my take on the challenge:

Core’dinations Core Impressions Jenni Bowlin 6×6 cardstock

I’m still trying to learn how to make cards. There. I said it. lol So the way I see it, the only way for me to learn is by making more cards, right? From now on, you’ll be seeing a lot more cards from me. Some will be decent. Others will be…eh…and others, will be down right embarassing, but I have to at least try. LOL Lucky for me, Bo Bunny has Tuesday card challenges on their blog. The posts are filled with gorgeous inspiration that is totally lost on me still…but I’m trying! Got Milk? – DT Layout for Paper Secrets Feb Sketch Challenge and a Card Challenge

These are my last 2 dt projects to share for the Paper Secrets February Challenges. First is my take on Rochelle’s fabulous sketch. I went with a few bits of Webster’s Pages All About Me pp, trims and a journaling card. The bling and mask are by Prima. The fab alphas are “Cushies” by Pink Paislee. Here’s my take on her artsy/grungy sketch:

Christian was trying so hard to figure out how to get the milk out of that gallon jug. I really think he thought it was just one huge bottle just for him. 😀 I tried to get pics of him trying to drink from the lid and even trying to lick it, but missed those shots. We were all laughing so hard we didn’t stop him until he tried to walk off with that heavy container. lol

Rochelle’s fabulous sketch for the February Layout Sketch Challenge:

I’m still not very good at making cards, but I sure am trying! lol For my take on Joyce’s card sketch, I used Sassafras Paper Crush pp, stickers, alphas and flower. The twine is from the Twinery. I just added a bit of doodling with a black pen. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s Joyce’s awesome sketch for the Card Sketch Challenge:

Hope you play along with the fabulous 5 February Challenges at Paper Secrets! There’s something for everyone! Kimmy is hosting our manufacturer/brand challenge and the featured manu is Basic Grey. Nicolle is hosting our color challenge and she’s selected black, white, pink and red for our palette.
