Little Dear layout – Crate Paper and Sketchy Thursdays

So far, this month has been filled with so many fab challenges that combining a few of them only comes naturally! This next project was particularly fun due to Sketchy Thursdays’ current sponsor for their 8.11 sketch. Paper Secrets is offering a $25 Gift Card to their store, so of course I had to play along! I decided to go with Crate Paper for the layout and they have a color challenge currently posted on their blog. The 3 color pallete of sand, khaki and denim blue was a bit challanging for me with the dual neutral and though blue is my fave color, the photo was so navy blue heavy, I didn’t want to add to much of it to my lo. However, we were able to add another neutral to the pallete (black, white or Kraft) which really helped me create a better blance in my project. Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Crate Paper Neighborhood pp
Crate Paper Toy Box pp
CP Neighborhood diecut
CP Neighborhood diecut sticker
CP Toy Box diecut stickers
CP Toy Box alpha stickers
Making Memories brads
paper doily
Folk Art acrylic paint
DMC embroidery floss

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner

Tools:

We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy

Two Cards – Bo Bunny and Paper Secrets

Bo Bunny tends to post a card challenge on their blog about every other week or so and this time, they posted a really great card sketch on July 30th which is due tomorrow evening (Aug 14, 2011). Since I’m still learning to make cards, I figured this would be a great opportunity to work on a fun challenge. Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Bo Bunny Timepiece pp
BB Timepiece diecut stickers
BB Timepiece chipboard
American Crafts solid cardstock base
Distress Inks

Adhesives:

Helmar Adhesive runner

This is the fab sketch they posted:

Next is a card I created for the Paper Secrets Card Challenge with a twist. The twist was to use chipboard, bling/pearls and ribbon.

I entered one of the layouts I’d created using Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate papers and trim into the Scrapbookers Anonymous challenge and you get a bonus entry when you use the scraps for a card. Since I got the fab Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate Papers from the Paper Secrets store (they have a 20% off offer right now that ends tomorrow at midnight. Use coupon code take20 at checkout), I figured the scraps from my layout would be perfect for this card! Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate pp
WP Let’s Celebrate trim
WP trendsetter chipboard button
Kaisercraft rhinestones
Distress Ink
American Crafts cardstock base

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Zap Dots

Here’s the pagemaps sketch for the card challenge:

A Perfect Day Layout – Once Upon A Sketch

Once Upon a Sketch is a fabulously inspiring challenge site where I’ve often visited, but never participated. They offer gorgeous sketches with the focus of your project being the journaling, so their challenges always have an added journaling twist. Though the vast majority of participants submit layouts, you can also enter a card or altered project and use a quote for the journaling. The current challenges promts the journaling with “A Perfect Day is…” and must be at least 2 lines long. Mine reads, “A perfect day is every day that I watch you with our children. You are a wonderful father and I get to fall in love with you all over again.” So true. It never ceases to amaze me how much I adore watching him with playing with the kids or snuggling with them when they’re babies. I have tons of photos just like this one when each was a baby, taking a nap with their Daddy. 😀

Since I had some leftover scraps from my last WP layout using Let’s Celebrate, I decided to use them on this layout. Here’s my take on the sketch:

Materials:

American Crafts cardstock
Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate pp
WP Storytellers Alpha stickers
WP pinwheel florette
WP Let’s Celebrate fabric ticket
My Mind’s Eye Lush 2 journaling spot
Queen & Co. rhinestones
Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Zapdots

Tools:

Martha Stewart Doily Lace edge/border punch
Martha Stewart butterfly punches

Smile & Laugh Layout – Sketchabilities sketch

Sketch #52 at Sketchabilities was a lot of fun to work with! I really liked the layers and how different elements appeared tucked behind the photos. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to use the fab Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate papers with it and knew exactly which photos I wanted to use. Lucky for me, Scrapbookers Anonymous has a challenge this month to use journaling blocks/spots/cards on your project, which worked well with what I had in mind for this sketch. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate papers
WP Let’s Celebrate Trim
WP Let’s Celebrate Journaling Cards
WP Let’s Celebrate Fabric Ticket
WP Spring Market Princess Petal
WP Pinwheel florette
Viva Pearl Pen

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Acid Free Glue
Helmar Zap Dots
