My Buckaroo – CSI 198 and Creative Embellishments

Creative Embellishments is one of the sponsors for this month’s CSI, Color, Stories, Inspiration challenges, so several of us have been guest designing for some of their case files. πŸ˜€ They offer fun, inspiring challenges, with lots of prize ops, including the $30 gift voucher to the CE store that’s up for grabs! πŸ˜€ I had a blast solving case #198. The colors really work for me since blue is my favorite color and hey!…it’s also fave among my boys and my hubby! We all wear a lot of blue. lol Here’s how my page turned out:

For my evidence, I used stripes, trees, leaves, mesh, weather-related elements.Β I then combined hanging something, animals, and string by attachingΒ 3 wood fish pieces with string and hanging it from the corner of the cardboard with a brad (though I did cut up and adhere the fish to my layout with foam dots so they wouldn’t tear off or get snagged on something else. πŸ˜€

I hope you enjoyed my project and are inspired to play along with the CSI challenges this month! We can’t wait to see what you create! πŸ˜€

#, 5, hugs and kisses – layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone! I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. πŸ˜€ This pic was taken almost 2 years ago and captures a little ritual that would happen several times a day, every day. Over and over again, Christian would say…Pound? Five? Hug? Kiss?…then all over again. πŸ˜€ Here he is slouched on the couch just like Daddy. πŸ˜€

Like Father, Like Son Layout – DT work for Let’s Capture These Sketches

I loved working with this sketch by Ness for my dt work on Let’s Capture These Sketches. I’ve been dying to scrap these awesome photos of Larry with Christian when he was just 4 months old. Our little ham is soooo good at imitating all of Larry’s weirdness, so it was fun to capture these images of him mirroring his daddy. I went with some fab papers, rubons and acrylic by Fancy Pants. I just added a touch of Tim Holtz alcohol ink to the acrylic star and mounted it to some coordinating ledger cardstock, then topped it with a fab Heidi Grace translucent button. The journaling spot is by Jillibean Soup. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s Ness’ fabulous sketch:

TFL, and I hope to see your entry in the challenge!

A Perfect Day Layout – Once Upon A Sketch

Once Upon a Sketch is a fabulously inspiring challenge site where I’ve often visited, but never participated. They offer gorgeous sketches with the focus of your project being the journaling, so their challenges always have an added journaling twist. Though the vast majority of participants submit layouts, you can also enter a card or altered project and use a quote for the journaling. The current challenges promts the journaling with “A Perfect Day is…” and must be at least 2 lines long. Mine reads, “A perfect day is every day that I watch you with our children. You are a wonderful father and I get to fall in love with you all over again.” So true. It never ceases to amaze me how much I adore watching him with playing with the kids or snuggling with them when they’re babies. I have tons of photos just like this one when each was a baby, taking a nap with their Daddy. πŸ˜€

Since I had some leftover scraps from my last WP layout using Let’s Celebrate, I decided to use them on this layout. Here’s my take on the sketch:

Materials:

American Crafts cardstock
Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate pp
WP Storytellers Alpha stickers
WP pinwheel florette
WP Let’s Celebrate fabric ticket
My Mind’s Eye Lush 2 journaling spot
Queen & Co. rhinestones
Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Zapdots

Tools:

Martha Stewart Doily Lace edge/border punch
