One of a Kind – dt Layout for Let’s Capture These Sketches #125

This week at Let’s Capture These Sketches, we got to work with a wonderful sketch by JJ Sobey! For my take on it, I decided to rotate the sketch 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

Through the summer, we let the kids camp out in the living room on the hottest days since their bedroom turns into an oven. With so many kids spread out in the one room, it can be a challenge to find a spot where you won’t be disturbed. Matthew decided that the cabinet under the TV in the entertainment center (we’d removed the doors when M&M were toddlers) would be the perfect place to get cozy.

Here’s my take on Sketch #125:

Materials:

Authentique Genuine papers
Authentique Genuine stickers
Elle’s Studio tags
cardboard
acrylic paint
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

Sweet Happy Mischievous Grin’z’ – Layout for STTG #2, Prima BAP and SIWAS

For my dt example for level 2 of the STTG color challenge, I was inspired by a few other challenges that are going on right now. For level 2, you just need to pick 3 out of the 4 colors (lavender, ice blue, cream and gray) and 2 out of the 4 embellishments (pearls, bling, flowers and lace). The Meadow Lark papers by Prima were perfect for what I wanted to create and I saw that they currently have a Meadow Lark facebook challenge and a BAP sketch for March. Since I was already using the Meadow Lark papers, it was only natural that I combine the two with the STTG challenge. I then remembered that the current song for Scrap it with a Song is “Nothing Compares 2 You” by Sinead O’Connor. I used a variation of that by turning “you” into “your” in my subtitle, so now it reads: Nothing compares to your…sweet, happy, mischievous grin’z’ (I ran out of the letter S from the Dusty attic typewiter ABC set, so I just played around w/the titlework). Here’s what I came up with by combining these challenge elements:

Materials:

Prima Meadow Lark pp
Prima Meadow Lark flowers
Prima Meadow Lark metal trinket
Prima Meadow Lark Art Tile
Prima Meadow Lark alphas
Dusty Attic chipboard alphas
Canvas Corp Canvas sheet
Twine from The Twinery

distress ink
Helmar Acrylic Sealer
Want 2 Scrap bling

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

Tools:

Martha Stewart Cherish Round the Page Punch
Martha Stewart Lace Doily border punch

Handsome – Layout for Sketchabilities and STTG #2

Sketchabilities #66 features a gorgeous sketch by Karan Gerber. I decided to combine the sketch w/my dt work for STTG‘s second challenge. STTG’s March challenge has 3 tiers. From a list of 4 colors, 4 embellishments, 2 shapes and 2 techniques, you select a specified number from the categories for each level to complete your project. Here’s my take on level 3 of the STTG challenge using the Sketchabilities #66 sketch:

Materials:

Crate Paper Sweet Branch pp
Webster’s Pages pp (the cream damask)

Where’s Matthew? – dt layout for Lets Capture These Sketches #123

For my take on JJ’s sketch for Let’s Capture These Sketches challenge #123, I went with mostly primary colors using Echo Park‘s A Boy’s Life collection. The journaling reads, “July 16, 2011 – I was startled when I peeked into your room that night to check on you and you weren’t in bed! I had just passed the bathroom, but thought I could have overlooked you, so I looked for you there first. When you weren’t there either, I started to get worried. I raced to my room…no Matthew! I checked downstairs and all the other bedrooms and didn’t see any sign of you. Panicked, I checked your room again. To my relief, there you were…sleeping right on top of a 3 ft. high pile of folded blankets and plastic tubs of stuff animals and toys in the back corner of your room. You were snuggled in so deep, only your head was poking out!”

I went with “Where’s Matthew”? As the title because the photos remind me of Where’s Waldo. lol Here’s my take on JJ’s sketch:

Materials:

Echo Park A Boy’s Life papers
EP A Boy’s Life diecut stickers
EP A Boy’s Life Alpha stickers
October Afternoon buttons
twine

Adhesives:

Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
