Camping in the Living Room – dt layout for Let’s Capture These Sketches #127

For Let’s Capture These Sketches #127 I got to work with a fabulous Natalie Roy sketch. For my take on it, I decided to break out my stamps and inks and make my own background. Lately I’ve been craving time to do some art journaling, so I think that influenced where I took the layout. Unfortunately, when I went to take a pic of it though, my photos all came out looking either washed out or too dark. Direct sunlight = washed out and indirect sunlight = dark. I settled for a pic I took of it taped to the refrigerator! lol The glare on the left of photo on the tent is from the kitchen window, not my flash. Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

AC white cardstock
Distress Ink
Pitt Artist Pen
Stazon Ink
Fancy Pants stamps
Pink Paislee wood alphas
Dusty Attic Grass Cluster #1 (from the STTG Store)
Acrylic paint
OA mini market alpha stickers
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

Adhesives:

Helmar Premium Craft Glue

Baby, It’s Cold Outside – Let’s Capture These Sketches/The Paper Variety

The Paper Variety’s challenge this week is to create a paper based project inspired by a Christmas song title or lyrics. So I kept that in mind as I created this layout of my youngest son last winter in his first bunting. He hated that thing, but he was sooo cute in it! LOL I remember he kept looking at us accusingly, like he was thinking, “How COULD you”? The song, Baby It’s Cold Outside, kept popping in my head, so I’m hoping it counts though it’s not really a Christmas song. It’s a winter song that’s often played around Christmas?

This is my dt project for this week’s sketch by Charlotte at Let’s Capture These Sketches:

Materials:

Fancy Pants Hot Chocolate pp
Fancy Pants sticker
Brown Bazzill cardstock
ZVA Creative flourishes
Rhinestones from my stash
ZVA Creative flower
Prima flowers
Paper Secrets flowers
Snowflake charm from my stash
Distress Inks

Adhesives:

Helmar gemstone glue
Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

Like Father, Like Son Layout – DT work for Let’s Capture These Sketches

I loved working with this sketch by Ness for my dt work on Let’s Capture These Sketches. I’ve been dying to scrap these awesome photos of Larry with Christian when he was just 4 months old. Our little ham is soooo good at imitating all of Larry’s weirdness, so it was fun to capture these images of him mirroring his daddy. I went with some fab papers, rubons and acrylic by Fancy Pants. I just added a touch of Tim Holtz alcohol ink to the acrylic star and mounted it to some coordinating ledger cardstock, then topped it with a fab Heidi Grace translucent button. The journaling spot is by Jillibean Soup. Here’s what I came up with:

TFL, and I hope to see your entry in the challenge!

Kaisercraft Beyond the Page Altered Box

Today I’d like to share a fun project I got to work on for the Firefly Expression Blog. This week they’re featuring Kaisercraft, so the base of my project is their Beyond the Page All Purpose Box which is available in their store for $8.99. I wanted to show how you can easily mix old and new products with this fab line, so I used Webster’s Pages Country Estate Papers from their previous release, Pink Paislee’s Butterfly Garden rubons (received in my August prize kit from Marivic at Berry71bleu) and older Fancy Pants rub ons. The little pearls on the lid are also by Kaisercraft and are available in the Firefly Expressions Store for just $0.50.

See that fabulous green, blinged out butterfly on the front? It was also included in the fab prize pack Marivic sent me. Be sure to check out her fun September challenge for your chance to win an incredible kit too! 😀

And of course EVERYTHING is held together using fantastic Helmar adhesives!

I started out by slightly sanding, then painting it with vanilla acrylic paint. I didn’t coat it heavily because I wanted a lightly whitewashed kind of look to it. I then used the Helmar acid free glue to adhere the Webster’s Pages papers that I cut to size and fussy cut to layer images onto the lid. I then added a fabulous Unity stamp sentiment, some rubons and bling.

The cameo and resin bird are adhered with Helmar 450 Quick Dry and I used Liquid Scrap Dots for the butterfly. TFL!
