Sweet Baby Boy – Layout for Kaisercraft’s January Sketch #2

Every Saturday, Kaisercraft posts a sketch for their monthly challenge, so depending on the month, there are 4 or 5 sketches and they are each due on the last day of the month. You can choose to complete 1 or all of them (one entry per sketch) and all you need to do to enter is make sure your project contains at least 70% Kaisercraft products and you upload your image to a gallery, photobucket, blog post etc. with the sketch title/name in the your title, then post the link to your project in the comments on the appropriate sketch post on their blog. The first place winner is awarded one of Kaisercrafts new collections, with an approximate $50 retail value and the second place winner receives a Kaisercraft scrap pack which includes new products and has an approximate $30 retail value!!!

This month, I decided to go with the gorgeous sketch #2 using a photo of Madison holding Christian when he was 5 months old. I made him the subject of the layout since he’s looking at the camera, but she’s looking at her baby brother. 😀 This is my take on the fabulous Kaisercraft sketch:

Materials:

Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings pp
Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings rubons
Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings diecuts
Distress Ink
Shimmerz paints
Harmonie acrylic scalloped circle
Liquid Pearls
Prima bling
Webster’s Pages Storyteller Alphas

Adhesives:

Helmar Acrylic Sealer
Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Zap Dots (foam dots)

Beautiful – Layout using Glitz for Creative Scrappers Sketch #190

I love when things come together so perfectly. I’ve been loving the Creative Scrappers sketches lately. They’re so hard to resist! So when I saw sketch #190 earlier this month, I knew that once I got my dt work done for the month, I’d want to play along with this one too. 😀

I’d also seen that Glitz has started their challenges up again. I’ve been stalking their blog since summer hoping they would pick that back up since I’d never played along before and had received my first set of Glitz products right after their last challenge had ended. D’oh! lol I’m super excited that they’ve started hosting challenges again!

This month’s Glitz challenge features an inspiration photo and combining it with the CS sketch came naturally. Though the Glitz photo features a wintery scene, I was actually inspired by the circular mirror, soft textures, cushion of white and framing. I love how the greenery in the photo envelopes the circle, but leaves it some breathing room. These features were so easily replicated using the CS 190 sketch! Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s the fabulous Glitz inspiration image:

And the gorgeous CS sketch #190:

I used Glitz Beautiful Dreamer papers, Peek-a-Boo and Whatnots. Prima flowers and butterfly, ZVA Creative bling, ribbon and lace from my stash.

The STTG store has Beautiful Dreamer papers, paper layers, albums and stickers still in stock and 2 of the Glitz new releases (French Kiss and Pretty in Pink) are in as well! So be sure to stop by and check them out!

Firefly Expressions dt Layout – Sketchy Thursdays Challenge entry

For this week’s feature on the Firefly Expression’s Blog, we were sent Dutch Girl papers and diecuts by Cosmo Cricket. After a quick comparison, Nicolle (my best scrappy bud and fellow dt member) and I realized that we were sent the exact same materials to create with. So, to shake things up a bit and make it a little more fun, we decided to use the same sketch too! Since we both love playing along with the Sketchy Thursdays challenges, their 10.27 sketch seemed a natural choice. Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl papers
CC Dutch Girl Diecuts
Liquid Pearls
Stickles
twine from the twinery
Pink Paislee Old School Glitter Alphas
Distress Ink

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Acid Free Glue

Tools:

Martha Stewart Doily Lace border punch

Smile & Laugh Layout – Sketchabilities sketch

Sketch #52 at Sketchabilities was a lot of fun to work with! I really liked the layers and how different elements appeared tucked behind the photos. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to use the fab Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate papers with it and knew exactly which photos I wanted to use. Lucky for me, Scrapbookers Anonymous has a challenge this month to use journaling blocks/spots/cards on your project, which worked well with what I had in mind for this sketch. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages Let’s Celebrate papers
WP Let’s Celebrate Trim
WP Let’s Celebrate Journaling Cards
WP Let’s Celebrate Fabric Ticket
WP Spring Market Princess Petal
WP Pinwheel florette
Viva Pearl Pen

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Acid Free Glue
Helmar Zap Dots

Here’s the fab sketch I used:
