Beautiful – Layout using Glitz for Creative Scrappers Sketch #190

I love when things come together so perfectly. I’ve been loving the Creative Scrappers sketches lately. They’re so hard to resist! So when I saw sketch #190 earlier this month, I knew that once I got my dt work done for the month, I’d want to play along with this one too. 😀

I’d also seen that Glitz has started their challenges up again. I’ve been stalking their blog since summer hoping they would pick that back up since I’d never played along before and had received my first set of Glitz products right after their last challenge had ended. D’oh! lol I’m super excited that they’ve started hosting challenges again!

This month’s Glitz challenge features an inspiration photo and combining it with the CS sketch came naturally. Though the Glitz photo features a wintery scene, I was actually inspired by the circular mirror, soft textures, cushion of white and framing. I love how the greenery in the photo envelopes the circle, but leaves it some breathing room. These features were so easily replicated using the CS 190 sketch! Here’s what I came up with:

And the gorgeous CS sketch #190:

I used Glitz Beautiful Dreamer papers, Peek-a-Boo and Whatnots. Prima flowers and butterfly, ZVA Creative bling, ribbon and lace from my stash.

The STTG store has Beautiful Dreamer papers, paper layers, albums and stickers still in stock and 2 of the Glitz new releases (French Kiss and Pretty in Pink) are in as well! So be sure to stop by and check them out!

Choose Happy – No Photo layout for Sketchy Thursdays

This month on the Paper Secrets forum, I am hosting the color challenge. Now that Christmas has just passed and it’s New Years (and Winter here in the US), I have shimmery metallics in my head. Gold goes so well with traditional or vintagy Christmas colors and silver goes so well with blues, whites, and Wintery papers.

My January challenge for you is to scrap a page, card or altered project using GOLD OR SILVER on it! You don’t need to use both. Just Gold Or Silver on your paper based project and upload to the PS gallery by Jan 31, 2012.

For my example for the challenge, I used the current Sketchy Thursdays sketch for inspiration. With my goals for 2012 in mind, I went with a no-photo layout and used Melody Ross pp’s and chipboard pieces. I also adapted this layout to the canvas on my previous post.

Here’s what I came up with for the Sketchy Thursdays challenge:

Little Yellow Bicycle (LYB) Envelope Tag Album – Paper Secrets Challenge

Here’s a fun project I worked on for one of the challenges on Paper Secrets. Though the birthday bash is this weekend only (you’re entered for a chance to win a prize w/each challenge you complete and each challenge has it’s own prize! Entries are due by 11:59 PT on Monday, April 4, 2011). For the month of April, instead of having the usual challenges, Kristi has decided to give everyone a chance to play along with the ones we created for the Birthday Bash, so if even if you do not get your project done for this weekend’s event, you can still enter your project for the April monthly prize! 😀

For the P-A-R-T-Y Stash challenge, YOU “create a project using items starting with the letters found in “PARTY”. All of your items should be visible so adhesive & tools will not count.” The example given was: P-pins, A-alphabets, R-ribbon, T-tape, and Y-yarn.

For my entry, I created an envelope tag album by LYB and embellished it using the Cupcake Love collection that I won on Glue Arts Facebook giveaway back in February (or was it early March?). Thank you Glue Arts and LYB!!! Now, it’s ready for Madison’s birthday pictures that I haven’t had a chance to get developed yet! Here’s how it turned out:

I went with P-Pink Patterned Paper, A-Album, R-Ribbon, T-Tags (the envelopes have tags inside, but I also added a canvas tag), Y-YoYo flowers. Here are SOME of the pages, starting with the front cover:

Here’s the back of the cover:

Two of the center spreads:

The other pages were decorated more simply, so I didn’t add photos of them. As you can see, I still left plenty of room for tons of cutie photos of my “lil cupcake”! 😀
