Can’t I get just 1 smile? Scrapbook layout

Christian is nearly a year old and I have hundreds of photos of my little guy. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them look just like these. For months, if he saw the camera, he would just stare at me like I had 2 heads, look really confused, or pissed! Now that he’s 11 months old and walking, he runs towards me and tries to grab the camera, so I get blurry action shots or images of his face up close and waaaay too personal. lol

For this layout, I combined 2 challenges. I used sketch#2 for the SYAO contest on Paper Secrets (due May 28th) and combined it with challenge#3 on Sketches4All, which requires 5+ patterned papers, 5+ alphas and exactly 5 buttons (due May 21st). Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden papers
American crafts cardstock
MME chipboard
Maya Road chipboard swirls (I took a piece apart to create a question mark)
PP Butterfly Garden Clear Pops stickers
PP Butterfly Garden Baubles buttons
white shirt buttons
Webster’s Pages Silhouette
WP Vintage Inspired Netting (original)
WP Storytellers Alphas
October Afternoon Mini Market stickers
Tattered Angels Shimmer mist
Distress Ink
Folk Art Acrylic paint
Stazon ink
Fiskars Baby Clear Stamps

Adhesives:

Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Zapdots
Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro PermaTac

Altered Frame using Webster’s Pages Hollywood Vogue and Bloomers

Last weekend, I stopped by JoAnn’s for their 40% off sale on scrapbook supplies. While I was there, I found this cute unfinished wood frame and thought it would be fun to alter for a challenge on Sketches for All. I was originally going to use Graphic45 papers for it, but saw on their blog that one of their DT members made a frame almost exactly like what I had in mind (check it out when you have a chance, great blog for inspiration!). Then I remembered that Webster’s Pages has a challenge on their blog where all you need to do to enter is incorporate some of their bloomers and/or trims in your project. Scrap Whispers is also having a challenge (challenge 88) where you use a forgotten treasure, so I used the paint that Larry had bought last year for Madison’s dollhouse. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

There’s a bit of a glare on the the papers in that photo, so here’s the frame at an angle:
