Like a Mother to Me – layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone, it’s Thursday again, which means I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. This week, I went with a page featuring my mil. I’ll be honest, I really struggled with how to do this page. My mil is a very simple woman and likes simplicity. My daughter’s favorite color is purple (which I struggle with) and she loves flowers, but my mil likes CAS. What a really wanted to capture is what a wonderfully inspirational and fabulous role model she truly is. I hope I did her justice. For my page I incorporated one of the new fancy rectangle frames which I altered with a couple of different distress stains and blended together. I did the same with the antique clock which I topped off with one of the new Mother’s Day flair pieces and the green part of the Spring flourish. I then colored the flowers on the flourish using Pitt artist markers and while it was still wet, went over it with gesso to mute the color, yet have it bleed through. I worked it with the brush to draw out more of the color and create some variegation. Here’s how my page turned out:

Merry Christmas – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. This week, I decided to go with a Christmas layout of my daughter, Madison. These photos were taken on Christmas two years ago and she was excited to receive so many dolls. Even her brothers got her dolls that year since she’d dropped us all so many hints about what she’d wanted. lol To create my page, I cut apart several of the Creative Embellishments chippies and altered them with gesso, acrylic paint, Distress paint and stains. I was also inspired by the inspiration photo at Scrap Around the World and the Monday Mojo sketch at Flying Unicorn. Here’s what I came up with:

You Are My Sunshine – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

***Be sure to read the giveaway info at the end***

Hi, everyone! Another Thursday means I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with another project to share. 😀  This week, I created a layout using TONS of GORGEOUS Creative Embellishments laser cut chipboard pieces. If you didn’t already know, I LOVE their fabulous, high quality products and intricate, fun designs. To create this entire layout, I only used 1 sheet of pp and 2 doilies. Other than the stamping, everything else you see is made by Creative Embellishments! 😀

The pic I selected for my page is of my youngest son when he was a few months old. Any time I would leave the room, he was search for me even to the point of arching his back and doing back bends to look into the next room! It’s hard to tell in the photo, but that’s what he’s doing. A back bend just to see me. 😀 I was also inspired by the Monday mojo sketch over at the Flying Unicorn forum. Here’s what I came up with:

Summer Fun – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

I’ll be up on the Creative Embellishments blog each Thursday with a project to share using their fabulous laser cut chipboard and woodsies products. 😀 For my first Thurs. project I created a layout of my son, Alex, on the beach searching for the perfect conch shell. It was also inspired by the Scrap & Music challenge (sketch + U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For). Though the kids all brought home a ton of shells they’d found, he never did find a sizeable conch. In fact, I think the largest he found was the size of a dime! lol

I like keeping things simple, so to alter my chippies, I used a combination of gesso, black and copper acrylic paint, and white acrylic paint to highlight.

Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

CE nautical collection chippies
CE flourish set #2
CE social hash tag chippies
7 Dots Studio paper and alphaa stickers
acrylic paint
cheesecloth
raffia
Tim Holtz word band, corked bottle, timepiece and spinner
TCW and TH masks
Liquitex acrylic ink
Prima junkyard finding
burlap
natural shells and sand

TFL! Close ups/details shots are available on the CE blog. Would love to see you there! Comments are always appreciated. 😀
