Angel of Mine – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

I am soooo thrilled that today is the first reveal for the new dt at Creative Embellishments! I just love what everyone came up with for their examples for the March challenge. Be sure to stop by the CE blog and check it out! šŸ˜€

For my take on the challenge, I was inspired by the colors, placement of the colors, the flowers, butterflies and fairy wings from the inspo photo. There’s also a stunning sketch by one of our team members, Tammy, to combine with the inspiration image this month.

To create my page, I started with white cardstock and adhered crumpled tissue paper to the areas I wanted each color. Once dried, I went over the wrinkles lightly with gesso to bring out the texture. I then added a doodled border to go with the whimsical feel of the page and tied that in by outlining a few of the fussy cut flowers. All of my chippies have been altered with a silver gelato and PITT markers. Ā Here’s what I came up with:

Warm & Cozy – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi, everyone! It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. šŸ˜€ I snapped this normal everyday pic of Madison one day when then kids were all camping out in the living room. She’s all snuggled up in her favorite blanket which was given to her by a friend of mine before she was even born.

To create my background, I used the Creative Embellishments Bokeh stamp with some gelatos. It didn’t turn out quite how I’d intended because after stamping with it, I had wanted to blur the lines a bit and misted it with more water. Too much water. lol So It’s splotchier than it started out being. After that goof, I had to continue with it, so I went ahead and made the rest of the background to match. lol I altered both the flourish and the Out of this World chipboard pieces with gelatos as well, but went with an acrylic paint on the Chunky Alphas. Here’s how it turned out:

warm and cozy

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Circle Bokeh stamp
CE Out of This World frame
CE Chunky Alphabet
CE Flourish set 15
13 Arts papers
Webster’s Pages charm and clip
lace from my stash
Design Memory Craft gelatos
gesso
acrylic paint
prima flowers
doilies from my stash
Martha Stewart punches
Spellbinders die

For my page, I was inspired by the February mood board at Scrap Around the World:

I liked the circular scattered elements in the background of the lower left image and the colors from the chevron image. I also incorporated a touch of metallic elements inspired by the lower right image.

I also went with the February 1st Stuck?! Sketch to create my page:

Last but not least, Scrap Africa’s challenge #26 is to incorporate altered chipboard, so I’m entering that challenge with my page as well. TFL!

Merry Christmas – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. This week, I decided to go with a Christmas layout of my daughter, Madison. These photos were taken on Christmas two years ago and she was excited to receive so many dolls. Even her brothers got her dolls that year since she’d dropped us all so many hints about what she’d wanted. lol To create my page, I cut apart several of the Creative Embellishments chippies and altered them with gesso, acrylic paint, Distress paint and stains. I was also inspired by the inspiration photo at Scrap Around the World and the Monday Mojo sketch at Flying Unicorn. Here’s what I came up with:

Together – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hey, everyone! It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog. :-D I like mixing things up, working different styles and even playing around with different types of projects (though I still seem to struggle with card making of all things! lol). So, my page today is a lot simpler and more straight forward than usual. One of the CE pieces I used is the film strip frame which is still a fave of mine. I simply dabbed and swiped it with a black paint dabber and voila…an eye catching frame for my pic of my only daughter with my youngest son. His favorite phrase at the moment seems to be, ā€œYou’re my best friendā€ā€¦which he says to all his siblings. ;-) They each beam with pride whenever he says it to them and give him tons of hugs and kisses whenever they hear it. He’s more than a little spoiled by their attention, but I guess that’s the perk of being the youngest. :-D

To tie in the frame piece w/the rest of the page, I also used 2 wood cuts. The movie projector and reel seemed like the perfect coordinating accents. To alter those, I used a black PITT big brush marker and acrylic ink. I find with smaller, more intricate pieces, I have more control of where I apply the color this way.

Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s a detail shot of the cluster w/the wood cuts:

Here’s a detail shot of another cluster on my page w/a WP bookmarker and dangling cameo which I altered with Smooch:

I was also inspired by the Scrap and Music challenge #12 which features and awesome sketch and song (Stop! by Erasure) for title inspiration:
