Buried Treasure – Layout for Dusty Attic’s June Challenge

Though I’ve known for quite some time that Dusty Attic runs monthly challenges, this is my first time playing along there.

We recently went on our first family vacation…it was a weekend at the beach at the end of March. Most of the kids had never been to the beach before and we all had a great time. 😀 Christian was in heaven…though we went at a less than ideal time of year to enter the water, he kept trying to run right in…shoes and all! 😀 For my take on the June sketch, I went with pics of him after he’d buried himself in the sand.

The June sketch at Dusty Attic:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages papers (Sunday Picnic, Spring Market, Everyday Poetry)
WP trim (Spring Market)
WP Fabric ribbon (Palm Beach)
WP script alphas (In Love)
WP sparkler
WP charm
WP sticker
WPJournaling card (Palm Beach)
WP Silhouette
WP Petite Roses
WP Dazzle Me Gems
mini alpha stickers from my stash
Dusty Attic chipboard frame
DA chipboard title piece
DA flowers
May Arts vine trim
Distress inks and stains

Adhesives:

Scotch ATG
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar zapdots (foam dots)

Explore – June Scrap That sketch challenge entry

This month I decided to play along with the sketch challenge at Scrap That for the first time. I loved the sketch designed by Amarilys Doria for the June challenge and was greatly inspired by it. I knew I had a photo of Alex that was taken at the beach, when we went the last weekend of March, that seemed to suit this sketch perfectly. 😀 He was scanning the shoreline for unique shells and seemed to be in a pensive mood. He was totally relaxed and had all the time in the world. I loved that moment as time seemed to stand still and everything was at peace. 😀 For my take on the sketch, I again turned to my fave scrappy manu, Webster’s Pages…I’m still working on using up some of my older stash to make way for the upcoming releases. That, and I went ahead and got one of the warehouse boxes…it was a deal I simply could not resist (just $25 for an absolutely stuffed, $131 retail value box full of WP goodness).

Here’s what I came up with:

The fabulous June sketch:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages papers (Everyday Poetry, Palm Beach and Ladies & Gents)
Webster’s Pages trim (Seaside Retreat?)
Webster’s Pages fabric ribbon (Everyday Poetry)
Webster’s Pages Princess Petal (Western Romance)
Webster’s Pages Perfect Petal (Park Drive)
Webster’s Pages Dazzle Me Gems (Everyday Poetry)
I am Roses flower
I am Roses skeleton leaves
Imaginarium Designs title piece
Dusty Attic chipboard frame

Adhesives:

Scotch ATG
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

Tools:

Martha Stewart border punch

Scrapbook Kits with a Difference August Challenges

The August SKWAD (Scrapbook Kits with a Difference) challenges are now live on the blog! Stop by and check out the dt’s fabulous examples and play along for your chance to win a fun scrappy prize! 😀

First up, we have the August Sketch Challenge. For my example, I went with Prima’s Meadow Lark collection. Everything used on my page is by Prima except the bit of trim from my stash (not sure who it is by). Here’s what I came up with:

This is the fantastic sketch by Annette Gearside:

The second challenge is the Inspiration Challenge. The Inspiration Challenge isn’t just about the colours – you may find yourself inspired by the image design, pictures or themes. You are also able to create an altered project, card, mini-album or art journal page for this challenge! 😀

Here’s what I came up with for the challenge (I was inspired by the colors and added white since it’s widely featured in the images. I also added scrolled chipboard pieces inspired by the chair and fence at the top of the inspiration image):

The papers and tag are Spring Jubilee by Pink Paislee, the cushies alphas are also by PP. The flowers are by Prima and the painted chippies are by Dusty Attic. I used a Martha Stewart round the page punch for the border.

Here’s the gorgeous inspiration pic for August:

To enter the SKWAD challenges, please email a photo of your completed layouts to scrapbookkitswithjules@gmail.com by midnight, August 31, 2012 Australian EST. If you’re not sure how to calculate the time difference, CLICK HERE for the current time in the correct time zone. I hope you play along!
