Buried Treasure – Layout for Dusty Attic’s June Challenge

Though I’ve known for quite some time that Dusty Attic runs monthly challenges, this is my first time playing along there.

We recently went on our first family vacation…it was a weekend at the beach at the end of March. Most of the kids had never been to the beach before and we all had a great time. 😀 Christian was in heaven…though we went at a less than ideal time of year to enter the water, he kept trying to run right in…shoes and all! 😀 For my take on the June sketch, I went with pics of him after he’d buried himself in the sand.

Climb Every Mountain – dt layout for SKWAD

This is the dt layout I created for the October Sketch challenge at SKWAD. Around this time last year, Alex was playing soccer and our other kids were playing on the sidelines during his practices and games each weekend. In these pictures, Christian is trying really hard to make his way up a little hill with a bit of an incline. His new shoes and the grass seemed to create a bit of a challenge for him, so it seemed he might as well have been trying to climb a mountain…thus the title for the page. 🙂 I used Webster’s Pages Sunday Picnic papers and a bit of bling and trim from that collection. Here’s what I came up with for the sketch:

The Sky is the Limit – Layout for Sketchabilities Sketch #65

When I saw sketch #65 at Sketchabilities, I immediately knew I wanted to use the new Sunday Picnic collection by Webster’s Pages for it. I also knew I wanted to use the gorgeous Rainbow Sky page for a layout with photos of Christian on a swing set that I took last fall, so everything fell into place pretty easily. 😀 I hand stitched using embroidery floss to make the rainbow stand out more. I then used a doily as a mask for the larger circle element from the sketch and created a mask using waxed paper so the mist would not obscure the gorgeous rainbow. 😀 Here’s what I came up with for the sketch:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages Sunday Picnic pp
WP Sunday Picnic fabric tickets
WP Sunday Picnic Perfect Accents
WP Sunday Picnic Dazzle Me Gems
WP Rose and Pearl Sparklers
WP Medallion Sparklers
WP Designer Threads
Little Yellow Bicycle doilies
Maya Road mist
Distress Ink

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Helmar Zap Dots

Tools:

Martha Stewart Punches
