Sweet Thing – dt layout for Paper Secrets and Helmar Challenge entry

I love to combine my dt work with challenges (or just combine challenges) when I can, so when Helmar posted a gorgeous sketch by Lydell Quin for their Feb/March challenge and Nicolle said she would be hosting the Paper Secrets March Technique challenge (using punches), I thought they’d go together perfectly! 😀 Though it didn’t turn out the way I originally had in mind, this combo certainly did get me using my punches! 😀

Simply Beautiful – Layout and Card for Paper Secrets Challenges

Paper Secrets has 2 progressive challenges that I’m participating in one is a layout challenge (we’re on week 4) and the other is a card challenge (we’re on week 3). These are my takes on the 2 sketches. 😀 For the layout, I had to select 4 products and a technique from a given list to use on my project. I chose lace/trim, staples, shape punches, 3+ flowers, and distressing (ink splatters).

Materials:

Sassafras Sweetly Smitten pp
Sassafras Sweetly Smitten folies
MME Laundry Line diecut title
black india ink
trim from my stash

Adhesives:

For the card, we needed to select 3 products and/or techniques. I selected 3 pp’s, a diecut (sticker that I cut into a ribbon shape) and stamping:

The Sky is the Limit – Layout for Sketchabilities Sketch #65

When I saw sketch #65 at Sketchabilities, I immediately knew I wanted to use the new Sunday Picnic collection by Webster’s Pages for it. I also knew I wanted to use the gorgeous Rainbow Sky page for a layout with photos of Christian on a swing set that I took last fall, so everything fell into place pretty easily. 😀 I hand stitched using embroidery floss to make the rainbow stand out more. I then used a doily as a mask for the larger circle element from the sketch and created a mask using waxed paper so the mist would not obscure the gorgeous rainbow. 😀 Here’s what I came up with for the sketch:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages Sunday Picnic pp
WP Sunday Picnic fabric tickets
WP Sunday Picnic Perfect Accents
WP Sunday Picnic Dazzle Me Gems
WP Rose and Pearl Sparklers
WP Medallion Sparklers
WP Designer Threads
Little Yellow Bicycle doilies
Maya Road mist
Distress Ink

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Helmar Zap Dots

Tools:

Martha Stewart Punches

Silly Boy – Layout for Creative Scrappers sketch #195

Creative Scrappers posts a new sketch every Sunday and all entries using their sketches are due at the end of the month, so this month, entries are due by February 29th. For my take on the sketch, I used Echo Park’s A Boy’s Life papers, diecut stickers and alphas. All adhesives used were by Helmar (Quick Fix adhesive runner and Zap Dots).

The photos on my layout were taken when Christian was especially fussy one night and out of ideas, Larry sat him in a diaper box that he’d emptied. Amazingly, it worked! Christian sat there fully engaged, occupied and HAPPY for nearly an hour. 😀 Here’s what I came up with for the challenge:
