April projects for Paper Secrets

Each month, Paper Secrets offers a variety of challenges that are posted on the first and due by 11:59 pm Pacific on the last day of the month. There is always an exclusive layout sketch challenge created and hosted by the talented Rochelle, a card sketch challenge created and hosted by Joyce, and 2 other challenges that vary in type/theme. For April, Nicolle is hosting the manufactuer/brand challenge and has selected Authentique as our featured company. 😀

For my final month on the Paper Secrets Design Team, I selected an “Inspired by Spring” challenge. To enter, your card, layout or altered project must include 3+ handmade flowers (any technique of your choosing), pastel colors, and something in your title, journaling or sentiment that has to do with Spring. Here are my examples for the challenges (except the manu challenge…my example for that one will be posted tomorrow, since I combined it with my GDT example for the The Paper Variety‘s Card + coordinating envelope challenge):

Controlled by the 3DS – Layout for Pagemaps

For my take on the current Pagemaps sketch (due March 4, 2012), I decided to go with Echo Park’s A Boy’s Life papers, diecut stickers and alpha stickers to compliment these photos of Taten playing his 3DS (which is his current obsession). He’s always insisting that someone or another watch as he plays, whether it’s me, his father or Alex…some has GOT to watch! lol

All the adhesives used were by Helmar (Quick Fix adhesive runner and Zap Dots). Here’s what I came up with:

Silly Boy – Layout for Creative Scrappers sketch #195

Creative Scrappers posts a new sketch every Sunday and all entries using their sketches are due at the end of the month, so this month, entries are due by February 29th. For my take on the sketch, I used Echo Park’s A Boy’s Life papers, diecut stickers and alphas. All adhesives used were by Helmar (Quick Fix adhesive runner and Zap Dots).

The photos on my layout were taken when Christian was especially fussy one night and out of ideas, Larry sat him in a diaper box that he’d emptied. Amazingly, it worked! Christian sat there fully engaged, occupied and HAPPY for nearly an hour. 😀 Here’s what I came up with for the challenge:

Love Bug layout – Paper Secrets and Scrapbook Challenges entry

Since I’m no longer on the dt for Paper Secrets, I get to play along with their challenges as a participant. This month, they have a layout sketch, a card sketch with a twist, a technique challenge and a manufacturer challenge. I decided to combine their manufacturer challenge (Basic Grey) with the Scrapbook Challenges sketch #260. Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Basic Grey Oh Baby! Boy papers
BG Wisteria diecut stickers
My Mind’s Eye rhinestones
Distress Ink

Adhesives:

Helmar adhesive runner
Helmar Acid Free Glue

Here’s the sketch I used for my layout:
