You Are My Sunshine – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

***Be sure to read the giveaway info at the end***

Hi, everyone! Another Thursday means I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with another project to share. 😀  This week, I created a layout using TONS of GORGEOUS Creative Embellishments laser cut chipboard pieces. If you didn’t already know, I LOVE their fabulous, high quality products and intricate, fun designs. To create this entire layout, I only used 1 sheet of pp and 2 doilies. Other than the stamping, everything else you see is made by Creative Embellishments! 😀

The pic I selected for my page is of my youngest son when he was a few months old. Any time I would leave the room, he was search for me even to the point of arching his back and doing back bends to look into the next room! It’s hard to tell in the photo, but that’s what he’s doing. A back bend just to see me. 😀 I was also inspired by the Monday mojo sketch over at the Flying Unicorn forum. Here’s what I came up with:

What are Little Boys Made of? – dt layout for SWAT

Okay, so the 1st SWAT challenge for November is to create a layout incorporating a recipe or a food pic. For my take on the challenge, I kept going back to this photo of my youngest son, Christian that I’ve been wanting to scrap for quite a while now. I knew exactly which Creative embellishments chipboard pieces I wanted to use (including a special request item they sent me in my last dt package) and I knew I wanted to use Prima’s Craftsman papers with it. Soooo I couldn’t resist. To incorporate the challenge requirements, for my journaling, I added a tag that has the word from the poem, What are Little Boys Made of, so it reads, “snips and snails and puppy dog tails” and to make it more like a recipe, I added gather ingredients and blend well. I combined the SWAT challenge with the current Monday Mojo sketch at Flying Unicorn. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s a close up of the fabulous details on these chipboard pieces. I altered them with acrylic paint, Tattered Angels glimmer mist and distress paint:

I added a couple of metal Tim Holtz embellishments to my page, so here’s a close up showing those items arranged with the chipboard:

Gotta Let Go – layout for sketchabilities sketch #102

Sketchabilities sketch #102 is now live! Karan’s new sketches have been fantastic to work with and so much fun! They’re wonderfully inspiring no matter what your scrapping style happens to be. They work beautifully for anything from CAS to mixed media and everything in between. 😀

When I looked at the circle elements on the sketch, I immediately thought of the wonderful chipboard circle panel that Nicolle recently sent me from Creative Embellishments and a FABULOUS steampunk hot air balloon stamp (I got to test out the prototype, so keep your eyes out for rubber stamps to be a new product added to their store!). Since I recently created a layout that featured smaller photos clipped to twine using mini clothespins, I decided to replace that feature on the sketch with a washi banner and add my title to it.

The photo on this layout features my son, Matthew. One of his favorite songs at the moment is TNT by Taio Cruz (some people know the song as Dynamite), so I used some of the lyrics from the song for the title and “journaling”. Here’s what I came up with:

Gotta Let Go

Here’s a close up of the hot air balloon. I heat embossed the stamped image using Lindy’s Stamp Gang embossing powder:

This close up shows the circle panel that I snipped bits off of and used in a few spots on my page. I heat embossed the panel pieces to match the hot air balloon stamp:

This close up shows some fabulous CE wood music notes. The frame is also by CE btw. 😀

Caught in my Web – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog sharing this layout. Hope you can stop by and check it out! 🙂 This week I created a Halloween themed layout using a lot of gorgeous Creative Embellishments chipboard and wood pieces. I adore working with their fabulously intricate designs…so much FUN!…and have been amazed by the new designs being added each week! Did you know new pieces are added almost every day?

I’m actually backlogged on a few years worth of Halloween pics and was thrilled to see the variety of titles and designs Nicolle and Mike have been coming up with. This particular Halloween, I just had the 3 youngest kids with me and Larry was running late at work. He ended up joining us further down the street which was another fun surprise for the kids since they weren’t expecting him to catch up with us. 😀 Here’s what I came up with combining the CE designs with a sketch from Purple Pumpkin.

Caught in my Web

Here’s a close up of the web and spider piece from the Caught in my Web set. I altered it by dabbing it with white distress stain, then coating the web parts with stickles and filling in the spider with a Pitt big brush marker:

I altered the Spider Web Flourish Border the same way, but applied Art Anthology dimensional crystal to the flourishes with a brush. Instead of using a sweeping motion, I created more interest by dabbing it with the tip of the flat brush to create peaks:

Here’s a close up of the cluster I created by snipping a section off of the Web Panel and layering it with wood cuts. I used 2 of the Autumn Leaves and a Pumpkin. I altered the leaves using acrylic paint and the pumpkin using a mixture of acrylic paint and Art Anthology dimensional crystal:

The title piece was altered using distress stain and I applied stickles only to the words Caught and Web. The bats were altered with black acrylic paint which was dabbed on thickly with the side of my brush to give them a bit of texture:

Graphic 45 Happy Haunting patterned paper
