Gift of Gab – PageMaps sketch challenge entry

PageMaps is well known for their fabulous sketches which are frequently used on challenge sites throughout the web. I recently stopped by to see what they’re all about and found this great sketch posted with a challenge. I’m also entering this layout into Sketches in Thymes’ Open Challenge #4. You can enter any layout you have created that is based on a sketch (up to 3 entries). Here’s what I came up with based on this sketch:

Well, I just received a fabulous package of My Mind’s Eye’s newest release, Stella and Rose, so I decided to create a layout for this sketch using that line (I will be posting a review of Stella and Rose on Monday). Based on the photo I selected, I decided to go with the Hazel range. Here’s what I came up with for the challenge:

Altered Frame using Webster’s Pages Hollywood Vogue and Bloomers

Last weekend, I stopped by JoAnn’s for their 40% off sale on scrapbook supplies. While I was there, I found this cute unfinished wood frame and thought it would be fun to alter for a challenge on Sketches for All. I was originally going to use Graphic45 papers for it, but saw on their blog that one of their DT members made a frame almost exactly like what I had in mind (check it out when you have a chance, great blog for inspiration!). Then I remembered that Webster’s Pages has a challenge on their blog where all you need to do to enter is incorporate some of their bloomers and/or trims in your project. Scrap Whispers is also having a challenge (challenge 88) where you use a forgotten treasure, so I used the paint that Larry had bought last year for Madison’s dollhouse. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

There’s a bit of a glare on the the papers in that photo, so here’s the frame at an angle:

TFL!

Materials:

Unfinished wood frame
Folk Art Acryllic Paint in Rose
Webster’s Pages Hollywood Vogue 12×12 papers
WP Hollywood Vogue trim
WP Fall 2010 Bloomers
Any sewing thread (used to sew the ribbon flower/bow and also attach the bloomer to it)
decorative pins (mine are handmade, but you can also buy them premade)

Adhesives:

Mod Podge
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
American Crafts This to That foam dots

Christmas Joy – Sketchy Thursdays Challenge Entry

This is Alex from Christmas 2006. He was so excited that he was finally old enough for a Bionicles figure. I was surprised that he was able to put it together by himself without any help from me! I created this layout based on a sketch for a challenge on Sketchy Thursdays. All the embellishments except the ribbon trim were fussy cut from printed cardstock and I used faux stitching on the outer border.

Materials:

Kraft paper (I do not remember the brand)
American Crafts white cardstock
Teresa Collins Noel cardstock
May Arts black pleated trim
Inkssentials white opaque pen

Adhesives:

Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro Perma Tac
American Crafts This to That foam dots
