#LOVE – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi, everyone! I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share…I know, I know…I’m normally on on Thursdays, but Nicolle was kind enough to switch days with me this week to give me an extra day due to personal issues. For my layout today, I decided to use more pics from the set I used on the Feb challenge example page. To alter my chippies I coated lightly with gesso and used chalk inks to cover and give them a blended distressed edge.

I was also inspired by case file #108 at CSI (Color Stories Inspiration), Heart Challenge at Flying Unicorn. Also based on sketch #2 from the Pagedrafts sketches.

I love the versatility of CE chipboard borders and panels. For this page, I ended up snipping apart both the Hearts Panel and the Love Knot Border to use across my page. Here’s what I came up with:

This is a close up of the layered chippies on the upper left corer of the photos:

What are Little Boys Made of? – dt layout for SWAT

Okay, so the 1st SWAT challenge for November is to create a layout incorporating a recipe or a food pic. For my take on the challenge, I kept going back to this photo of my youngest son, Christian that I’ve been wanting to scrap for quite a while now. I knew exactly which Creative embellishments chipboard pieces I wanted to use (including a special request item they sent me in my last dt package) and I knew I wanted to use Prima’s Craftsman papers with it. Soooo I couldn’t resist. To incorporate the challenge requirements, for my journaling, I added a tag that has the word from the poem, What are Little Boys Made of, so it reads, “snips and snails and puppy dog tails” and to make it more like a recipe, I added gather ingredients and blend well. I combined the SWAT challenge with the current Monday Mojo sketch at Flying Unicorn. Here’s what I came up with:

What are Little Boys Made of

Here’s a close up of the fabulous details on these chipboard pieces. I altered them with acrylic paint, Tattered Angels glimmer mist and distress paint:

Love & Happiness – dt layout for Sketchabilities sketch #99

***(HINT HINT)READ TO THE END***I’m so excited to share my first layout as part of the Sketchabilities team! I’m honored to be working with such talented crafters! Please be sure to stop by the Sketchabilities challenge blog to see all the fabulous examples they’ve created for sketch #99. πŸ˜€

For my page I just HAD to use Webster’s Pages. I think everyone has their favorite manu’s and their standbys. For me, WP is my go to manu. Whether I’m looking for their gorgeous classic papers, a soft pattern or a bold one, I’m sure to find just the right combination with their collections. I have to admit though, I’m totally guilty of HOARDING my WP. They’re so beautiful that sometimes it’s really hard to make myself USE them, cut into them, layer and not just admire them. lol Here’s what I came up with for sketch #99 using a combination of WP’s Palm Beach and Everyday Poetry:

The incredible sketch I got to work with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages papers, sparklers, cameo, frame, journaling card, fabric ticket and flower
October Afternoon stickers and flower sack bits
Freckled Fawn polaroid frames
Prima wood pieces
Tim Holtz distress stains, paints and washi tape
jute
gesso
acrylic paint
Pitt big brush pen
doily
sizzix die cut flourish

The Time of Your Life – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog! πŸ˜€ This week, for my project I used the Film Strip Picture Frames and the Movie Reel from the “Movie Night” collection. I was also inspired by several challenges, so I combined them to create my project.

For the Flying Unicorn Make a Mess and Clean it Up challenge, you create a super messy mixed media background, then use it as the base of your page. For the Scrap the Boys challenge, you create a page that involves and Outdoor Activity. Then for the Scrap & Music challenge, you use the sketch provided and lyrics from the song Time of Your Life by Green Day for your title. Here’s what I came up with for this combination of challenges:

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Film Strip Picture Frames
Creative Embellishments Movie Reel chipboard piece
Lily Bee papers
Kaisercraft, TCW and Prima masks
Unity Stamps
Stazon Ink
Acrylic paint
Signo white pen
Pitt artist pens
Lily Bee alpha stickers
