Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 – May

After taking a long break from crafting I’m now getting myself ready to re-enter the craft world, so to get my feet wet I figured a tag would be the best way to go. 🙂 When I think about tags, I can’t help but also think about Tim Holtz and his fabulously grungy, vintagy (is that even a word? lol), technique-filled creations, so I stopped by his blog for inspiration.

Each month, he shares a new tag, posts a tutorial on how he created it and challenges readers/followers to link up their creations inspired by that month’s tag. You can follow along as loosely or as closely to his design as you’d like. 😀

Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

#8 tag
Fancy Pants rubons
Distress stains
Distress ink
Unity Stamps
Staz On ink
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Film Strip Ribbon
TH Idea-ology Muse Token
TH Idea-ology Word Band
TH Idea-ology Trimmings
G45 brad

Adhesives:

Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Terrifically Tacky Tape

I can’t believe it’s December already! There’s so much happening this month! 😀 The five Paper Secrets December challenges are now live and ready for your fabulous entries! I’m going to break them up into 3 posts. Two posts today with 2 of the challenges featured on each and 1 tomorrow for the hop which starts on the Paper Secrets Store Blog. There will be giveaways and prizes, so don’t forget to stop back tomorrow! 😀

First we have a technique challenge hosted by Nicolle. Our challenge is to use distressing on your project. For my example, I’ve splattered ink, scraped and inked pp, fringed paper and curled paper for the banner:

Prickly Kisses – Sketchy Thursdays and Bo Bunny Challenges

Love when things just come together so naturally. 😀

When I saw the 10.6 sketch at Sketchy Thursdays, I knew it would be perfect for this set of photos I’ve been wanting to scrap with Christian, who was 4 months old at the time, and Larry. We just can’t resist those chubby cheeks of his! Anyway, Larry’s kisses tend to get pretty prickly especially if it isn’t immediately after he shaves. Christian weathers though fine now, but wow when he was an infant, he’d wail for me to rescue him after just a kiss or two! lol

In the photos, he’s wearing a cutie one piece outfit and is wrapped in a matching muslin blanket which he loved, so I wanted to bring out the colors from the patterns. Bo Bunny’s Welcome home from their last release was just perfect! I anxiously stalked the mailman waiting for the papers, trinkets, brads and noteworthy pack to be delivered so I could get started! The colors and designs on the papers were so much prettier than I’d expected. Gorgeous!!! BB’s current layout challenge is to add dimension to your page, rather than a sketch, so I was able to combine these two challenges. Here’s what I came up with for my layout using the fab BB papers and embellies and the wonderful Sketchy Thursdays’ sketch:

Materials:

Bo Bunny Welcome Home papers
BB Welcome Home trinkets
BB Welcome Home Noteworthy diecut journal pages
BB Welcome Home Brads
BB Welcome Home jewels
BB Welcome Home diecut sticker
Maya Road chipboard alphas
Folk Art Acrylic paint
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Adhesives:

Helmar Quick Fix adhesive runner
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
