Back Massage – dt layout for SWAT

This week’s drill #16 on SWAT is a wonderful sketch by Bev. There’s a twist that you need to incorporate twine somewhere in your design…any type of twine will do. I used jute for my page.

My youngest, who is now 3, loves to give back massages, but they tend to be rather brutal. lol I got a few pics of him giving his brother, Matthew, one and it kinda looks like he’s beating him up. I selected this particular photo because you can clearly see that Matthew is cracking up laughing and wasn’t injured by the experience. 😀 In the pic, Christian was 2 and Matthew was 6…therefore the time on the fabulous Creative Embellishments steampunk clock. I also combined the sketch with the Time Flies challenge on the Flying Unicorn Forum, where you need to include at least 2 timepieces on your page.

Here’s what I came up with for my example for the SWAT sketch and entry in the Flying Unicorn challenge:

Bev’s lovely sketch for the SWAT challenge:

Materials:

Creative Embellishments steampunk clock
Webster’s Pages Plum Seed papers, sparkler, clip, alphas and camera charm
Prima junkyard finding, TH timepiece, muse token and philosophy tag

gesso

So Sweet – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog today with a page I created using two of their fabulous flourishes, smart phone frame, hash tag title piece and one of the gorgeous bird cages. I stained and painted the flourishes, but for the birdcage, I also added some details to the birds using Pitt artist pens.

With permission from the site owner, I also combined my dt work for CE with the September challenge at the 123 Challenge Blog. Here’s what I came up with:

A close up of the birdcage:

Materials:

Love & Happiness – dt layout for Sketchabilities sketch #99

***(HINT HINT)READ TO THE END***I’m so excited to share my first layout as part of the Sketchabilities team! I’m honored to be working with such talented crafters! Please be sure to stop by the Sketchabilities challenge blog to see all the fabulous examples they’ve created for sketch #99. 😀

For my page I just HAD to use Webster’s Pages. I think everyone has their favorite manu’s and their standbys. For me, WP is my go to manu. Whether I’m looking for their gorgeous classic papers, a soft pattern or a bold one, I’m sure to find just the right combination with their collections. I have to admit though, I’m totally guilty of HOARDING my WP. They’re so beautiful that sometimes it’s really hard to make myself USE them, cut into them, layer and not just admire them. lol Here’s what I came up with for sketch #99 using a combination of WP’s Palm Beach and Everyday Poetry:

The incredible sketch I got to work with:

Materials:

Webster’s Pages papers, sparklers, cameo, frame, journaling card, fabric ticket and flower
October Afternoon stickers and flower sack bits
Freckled Fawn polaroid frames
Prima wood pieces
Tim Holtz distress stains, paints and washi tape
jute
gesso
acrylic paint
Pitt big brush pen
doily
sizzix die cut flourish

Pure Joy – for the Page Drafts “Be Bold” challenge and July IAR Challenge

Since I played along with the Paper Stories challenge last month, I couldn’t help but notice that the sketch is by Page Drafts, so I decided to check them out. It just so happens that they have a challenge running and apparently Page Drafts also provides sketches for CSI. How cool is that? 😀

For the Page Drafts challenge, the theme is “Be Bold”…interpreted any way you’d like and there’s a sketch to follow. The small print says you can rotate the sketch, but to stay as close to the sketch as possible. For my take on the challenge, I picked a photo of Christian where he is literally laughing out loud while sitting on the neighbor’s porch. I don’t know what it is about those steps, but he loves them…maybe he just likes that it’s different or that they’re green? Anyway, along with his “living out loud” pic, I went with the bold patterns and bright colors in the Webster’s Pages, Citrus Squeeze collection. Since I’d normally go with a neutral background for such bright prints, I intentionally picked the boldest pattern for my backdrop.

I’m also entering this layout in the I Am Roses challenge. Their requirements are that you use tissue paper or vellum and at least 2 of their products. All 3 of the different flowers on my page are by IAR. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

This is the sketch I worked with (entries are due this Saturday, July 6th Australian EST at 1:00pm):

Materials:

Webster’s Pages Citrus Squeeze papers
WP Sweet Notes papers
WP storyteller alphas
WP sparklers
WP whimsy flower
3 different I Am Roses flowers
Pink Paislee Daily Junque tissue paper
white tissue paper from my stash
thread from my stash
Freckled Fawn heart clip
K&Co date stamp
gesso

Adhesives:

Scotch ATG
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
