DD’s Birthday Party at Home – Kaisercraft November Sketch#2

Each Saturday, Kaisercraft features a sketch challenge on their blog and you have until the end of the month to enter your take on one or all of the sketches for your chance to win an awesome prize pack! 1st place wins one of Kaisercraft’s new collections (approx $50 value) and 2nd place wins a Kaisercraft scrap pack that includes new products (approx. $30 value). I decided to give it a try and went with sketch# 2 for November since it worked well with the photo I wanted to scrap of my daughter’s 4th birthday and I could also easily use the grungeboard alphas I was sent by Marie for this week’s feature on the Firefly Expressions blog. I was sent a sheet with the letter P. After considering the various options of what to do with the letters, I decided to use as many as I could by flipping them around. I turned 2 upside down to make D’s and flipped one over and turned it upside down as well to make the B. Here’s what I came up with for the sketch using the grungeboard alphas as well:

This is the fab Kaisercraft sketch I worked with:

Materials:

Kaisercraft Blae & Ivy pp
American Crafts white cardstock
Tim Holtz grungeboard alphas
Prima flowers
Pink Paislee alpha stickers
October Afternoon mini market alphas
Distress Ink
lace trim from my stash

Adhesives:

Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Helmar Zap Dots
Helmar 450 Quick Dry

Tools:

Martha Stewart Score Board
Martha Stewart circle cutter
Martha Stewart doily lace border punch
EK Success Scalloped Circle punch
Making Memories Large and Medium circle punches

Altered Box for the Paper Secrets Birthday Bash

The Paper Secrets Birthday Bash officially starts 10am PDT today on their forum! Come join in on all the fun games and challenges scheduled for this weekend…for each challenge you complete and upload to the gallery, you will be entered to win a prize. Each challenge has its own prize (pics of the prizes you could win are attached to the individual challenge posts). All entries need to be submitted by 11:59 pm PDT on April 4, 2011.

I’m hosting the altered box challenge. You can alter any type of box you’d like (cardboard, chipboard, wood, etc), as long as you incorporate paper in some way. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you’d like! For my example today, I went with simple. I started with a plain wood/wooden box:

Then I painted the edges on the interior and exterior:

Then covered all sides with paper:

I’m actually going to be creating a type of photo shadowbox with this, so it’s not embellished yet in these photos. After the weekend, I will post more pics with the completed project. TFL!
