Paper Secrets December Challenges – Now Live

I can’t believe it’s December already! There’s so much happening this month! 😀 The five Paper Secrets December challenges are now live and ready for your fabulous entries! I’m going to break them up into 3 posts. Two posts today with 2 of the challenges featured on each and 1 tomorrow for the hop which starts on the Paper Secrets Store Blog. There will be giveaways and prizes, so don’t forget to stop back tomorrow! 😀

First we have a technique challenge hosted by Nicolle. Our challenge is to use distressing on your project. For my example, I’ve splattered ink, scraped and inked pp, fringed paper and curled paper for the banner:

All Bundled Up – Sketchy Thursdays

This week’s sketch 11.17 at Sketchy Thursdays was perfect for this layout of Matthew all bundled up to play in the snow back in Feb 2010. A little before Christmas last year, I took the kids with me to ACMoore and they had some arts and crafts set up for the children to do and were giving out snowflake shaped, glittery felt ornaments. When we got home, Matthew asked me to scrap a page for his book with it. 😀 Here it is a year later and I’m finally getting around to doing just that! lol

This week’s feature on the Firefly Expressions blog is Pebbles, Inc. and we were given a half set of foam stamps to work with. Mine included this great snowflake piece that used with white acrylic paint for the bg of my lo.

Here’s what I came up with for the sketch:

Matthew’s felt snowflake is in upper right corner of the page. Isn’t it cute? 😀

Materials:

Bazzill Black Cardstock
Bo Bunny Midnight Frost pp
White Acrylic Paint
Prima mini alphas
Pink Paislee Cushies foam alphas

Adhesives:

Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Premium Craft Glue

Tools:

Pebbles Shape-a-Roonies foam stamp

My Guy Layout – Sketchy Thursdays Challenge Entry

Oh how I love to combine my dt work with challenges. 😀

The December GDT sketch on Sketchy Thursdays has the additional requirement that your page reflect gratitude or thankfulness. When asked what am I most thankful for or grateful for, the first thing that comes to mind would be my family. Larry and the children. Though I’m usually tempted to scrap the children’s photos for a page like this, when I thought about it more, I kept going back to the thought that our family would not be complete without Larry. I can’t think about the children without also picturing him with them. Playing with them, teasing them, smiling at them, etc…then I knew I wanted to scrap a couple of photos of my handsome hubby that I’ve been holding onto.

This week, on the Firefly Expressions Blog, we’re focusing on Shimmer Papers by The Paper Company. Once I noticed how well the B sides of the Peach and Grass Green papers went with the Prima Pixie Glen collection, I knew I wanted to combine my dt work on ffe w/the ST sketch. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

The journaling reads: “We might not agree on everything, but I’m thankful for every day we have together & am grateful that we found each other. You make our family complete.”

Now you might be wondering why I started it with “We might not agree on everything”…it’s cuz he’s in his camo…he was hunting the day the photos were taken and I’m not real thrilled with hunting, but it’s a family tradition he grew up with, so we agree to disagree on the subject. 😉
