Dream On – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout of my youngest son. This photo was taken a couple of years ago, the one and ONLY time he ever fell asleep unintentionally. lol Christian is not only a night owl, but he takes after me in other ways too. He doesn’t tend to just fall asleep randomly like other babies and toddlers do. He snuggles with his blanket, lays down, closes his eyes and knows he’s falling asleep…all but this once that I’m aware of. One minute he was sitting up and jabbering away and the next, he was slumped over and asleep. Just.like.that. lol

To create my page, I used several Creative Embellishments stamps on the background and layering some CE chippies with papers and metal pieces that I intentionally rusted. To alter the title, circles and panel, I just applied acrylic paint. For the view master slide, I then inked over it with distress ink. The frond I gessoed, then used distress stain, allowing it to puddle unevenly on the piece and air dry.

I was also inspired by sketch #111 from Sketchabilities. 😀

#Sweetheart – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

I’m back on the Creative Embellishments blog for Thursdays, so I have a layout to share. My youngest son is our wild child and little he does would be what we’d consider typical. Considering we’ve got 5 kids, that’s saying a lot. lol My little critter has been climbing onto the back of the couch since before he could walk. Even now, at 3 1/2, he likes to lay across the back of the couch when watching tv or just hanging out. He recently started reading, but he’s always enjoyed looking at his books as seen in these pics.

I was inspired by 2 challenges when creating my page. CSI-Color Stories Inspiration case file #109 and sketch 27.1 from Page Drafts. I’ve also used a script bg stamp that is not yet listed in the store, so keep your eye out for this beauty! 😀

Here’s what I came up with:

Hold Me in Your Arms – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Welcome to another Thursday, which means, I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a project to share. Our youngest son is going for eye surgery at 8:45 this morning and it’s got me a little bit freaked, so this week, I went with a layout using a couple of photos from the first time Matthew held him. The whole pregnancy, we were worried about how Matthew would handle having a baby brother. He was so used to being the youngest and seemed to love that role in our family. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised by his reaction. He fell in love w/his baby brother the moment he saw him and 3 1/2 years later, Christian still has Matthew and his other brothers and sister wrapped around his little finger. 😀

I was also inspired by the sketch and song prompt from Scrap and Music sketch #19. Here’s what I came up with:

Hold Me in Your Arms

Creative Embellishments Hearts Wood Veneers
CE Conversation Hearts wood veneers
CE Emoticons Wood Veneers
CE 6×6 Chevron panel
CE Chipboard Butterflies

What are Little Boys Made of? – dt layout for SWAT

Okay, so the 1st SWAT challenge for November is to create a layout incorporating a recipe or a food pic. For my take on the challenge, I kept going back to this photo of my youngest son, Christian that I’ve been wanting to scrap for quite a while now. I knew exactly which Creative embellishments chipboard pieces I wanted to use (including a special request item they sent me in my last dt package) and I knew I wanted to use Prima’s Craftsman papers with it. Soooo I couldn’t resist. To incorporate the challenge requirements, for my journaling, I added a tag that has the word from the poem, What are Little Boys Made of, so it reads, “snips and snails and puppy dog tails” and to make it more like a recipe, I added gather ingredients and blend well. I combined the SWAT challenge with the current Monday Mojo sketch at Flying Unicorn. Here’s what I came up with:

Here’s a close up of the fabulous details on these chipboard pieces. I altered them with acrylic paint, Tattered Angels glimmer mist and distress paint:
