Happy Birthday Wish – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

WOOHOO It’s birthday month over at Creative Embellishments. Not only is my birthday in April, but Nicolle and Sandi are also celebrating birthdays this month. 😀 Since Nic is turning the big 4-0 this year, she’s decided that for this month’s challenge, she’ll be giving away a $40 gc to the Creative Embellishments store to the winner! How awesome is that?

The challenge this month is use the inspiration image any way you’re inspired and select at least 4 items out of the list of 10 to use on your page. You may use any other embellishments you’d like, as long as you also incorporate at least 4 items from the list.

For my page, I was inspired by the birthday theme of the inspo image and the colors, candles, balloons, cake, stripes and dots. From the list, I was originally going to use most of the items, but had a change of plans, so instead I simplified and went with these 4 items: doodling, enamel dots, mist and paint, bling (rhinestones on the crown).

I was also inspired by Sketchabilities sketch #112, so I used the CE Rings for So Many things and View Master Photo Slides to replace the circular elements and flowers from the sketch. The wood pieces from the Birthday Fun wood veneer set were all altered using PITT artist markers. The word “wish” at the top of my page is actually cut from the Wishful Thinking title piece. The remaining 2 CE products I used for my page are the Happy Birthday title piece and the Wavy Music note border (which I left raw).

Here’s how it turned out:

Mixed Media Birthday Tag – dt project for Creative Embellishments

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a quick, easy mixed media tag to share. I’ll be honest with you, I had totally intended to share a layout today and time sort of got away from me, which tends to happen when you’ve got 5 kids. lol So…I quickly got this tag together and it never ceases to amaze me how EASY CE products make it to embellish ANY type of project! No joke! Whether it’s a layout, canvas, altered piece, card or tag, once you have your theme in mind, CE products help you pull it all together with ease!

For my tag, I was loosely inspired by Nicolle’s birthday layout of her mother. I just loved how she used the distressed music note bg w/the music note border piece and the Happy Birthday title. So for my tag, I kept that feel to it, but used completely different products! 😀 Here’s how it turned out by using the Mesmerizing Music Notes stamp and Birthday Fun wood veneers:

Happy Birthday tag

I created the background by misting with Art Anthology mists, then used stazon ink to stamp the Mesmerizing Music notes onto it. I then inked the edges of the tag and flicked the whole bg w/some black paint (diluted so I wouldn’t get big globs). I altered the wood veneers using a mixture of the mist used on the bg (sprayed onto a palette and brushed on like paint or ink), silks glaze and Art Anthology Velvet paint, but I did leave the music notes bare. Layered under my flower cluster is a bit of painted mesh and some cheese cloth for added texture and dimension. Hope you like it! 😀

#Cute Smile – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone! It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. This week I went with a few older pics of Madison and Matthew. I’ve already used the best photos from this sitting, so these were ones that were more flattering photos of Matthew. They really show off his sweet smile with his cutie dimples. Somehow, he’s my only kiddo with those deep dimples…not sure how that happened, but I think they’re adorable. 😀

To create my background, I used 3 CE stamps. I started out by stamping the script stamp and the heart shape stamp with Stazon ink, then used embossing ink with the Love Heart stamp and heat embossed using Lindy’s Stamp Gang EP. I used several Prima stencils with chalk ink and Shimmerz Texturez to complete my background.

I decided to finish off my page with some awesome CE wood veneers and a couple of social hashtag words for my title. I was also inspired by CSI-Color Stories Inspiration S365-4 challenge and the Skissedilla sketch #232. Here’s how it turned out:

Here’s a close up of the heart layered on the photos (this piece is from my favorite wood veneer set!). Sorry for the blurry pic. Lately, I’ve had to take a lot of indoor nighttime pics which doesn’t work well for me.

Hold Me in Your Arms – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Welcome to another Thursday, which means, I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a project to share. Our youngest son is going for eye surgery at 8:45 this morning and it’s got me a little bit freaked, so this week, I went with a layout using a couple of photos from the first time Matthew held him. The whole pregnancy, we were worried about how Matthew would handle having a baby brother. He was so used to being the youngest and seemed to love that role in our family. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised by his reaction. He fell in love w/his baby brother the moment he saw him and 3 1/2 years later, Christian still has Matthew and his other brothers and sister wrapped around his little finger. 😀

I was also inspired by the sketch and song prompt from Scrap and Music sketch #19. Here’s what I came up with:

Hold Me in Your Arms

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Hearts Wood Veneers
CE Conversation Hearts wood veneers
CE Emoticons Wood Veneers
CE 6×6 Chevron panel
CE Chipboard Butterflies
Lily Bee papers, chipboard stickers and cardstock stickers
