Thankful Fall is Here – layout for SWAT drill #20

***GIVEAWAY op at the end of this post***

It’s the 3rd Saturday of the month, so there’s a new challenge up at SWAT. Drill #20 is a sketch with the added challenge of incorporating feathers on your project. For my take on the sketch, I decided to go with a photo of my son, Matthew, when he was 4 (he’s 7 now). He had made a cute costume in preschool out of a paper bag and looked darling showing off his little Indian costume, so I snapped a couple of quick pics. 😀

I ended up rotating the sketch because I also wanted to incorporate the chipboard tree and wood 3×4 card by Creative Embellishments on this page. The leaves and feathers are also by CE…aren’t they great?!! Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to alter many of them in order to get my page uploaded in time for the deadline. I KNEW I really really wanted to use CE products on my page and they arrived just in the nick of time. 😀 Here’s what I came up with for the challenge:

I Miss…Moments Like This – Layout for Once Upon a Sketches and Paper Secrets

Today is the first day of the Paper Secrets Birthday Bash celebration! There will be games, challenges and prizes all weekend long! So stop on by for some crafty inspiration, challenges and fun! 😀

For this year’s event, I have the honor of starting things off with our first challenge. I created this Tic-Tac-Toe board for the challenge:

All you need to do to enter is select 1 row, column or diagonal line of boxes and use those items on your project. You may choose to create a layout, card, mini album or altered art piece. Then upload your NEWLY created project to the PS Gallery with the KEYWORD “TTT” by 11:59 pm PDT on Tuesday, April 3rd for your chance to win a $20 e-gift certificate to the Paper Secrets Store!

For my example for this challenge, I decided to combine the challenge criteria with the sketch and journaling prompt at Once Upon a Sketch. The current theme is “I miss…” so I created this layout about how we miss cuddling with Matthew as he napped as a baby. Out of all of our children he loved to cuddle the most and often napped in one of our arms. Though Christian is still a tot, he rarely ever wants to do that and doesn’t tend to sit still long enough for it to happen. Madison is the only other child that liked to cuddle until she fell asleep, but that was only until she learned to walk at 10 mths. For the Tic-Tac-Toe part of the challenge I selected the first column from the board (patterned paper, border punch and chipboard) and here’s what I came up with after I rotated the sketch counter-clockwise:

Materials:

Authentique Genuine pp
Authentique Genuine diecut alphas and stickers
Dusty Attic lasercut chipboard
acrylic paint
Faber Castell Gelatos
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

Adhesives:

Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots

Tool:

Fiskars border/edge punch
