Thankful Fall is Here – layout for SWAT drill #20

***GIVEAWAY op at the end of this post***

It’s the 3rd Saturday of the month, so there’s a new challenge up at SWAT. Drill #20 is a sketch with the added challenge of incorporating feathers on your project. For my take on the sketch, I decided to go with a photo of my son, Matthew, when he was 4 (he’s 7 now). He had made a cute costume in preschool out of a paper bag and looked darling showing off his little Indian costume, so I snapped a couple of quick pics. πŸ˜€

I ended up rotating the sketch because I also wanted to incorporate the chipboard tree and wood 3×4 card by Creative Embellishments on this page. The leaves and feathers are also by CE…aren’t they great?!! Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to alter many of them in order to get my page uploaded in time for the deadline. I KNEW I really really wanted to use CE products on my page and they arrived just in the nick of time. πŸ˜€ Here’s what I came up with for the challenge:

You Light Up My World – layout for Creative Embellishments

Wow! I cannot believe it’s November already! October just flew by and the kids had a blast trick-or-treating. πŸ˜€ Anyway, a new month means a new challenge at Creative Embellishments and this month, Nicolle has selected a gorgeous inspiration photo with a theme of gratitude or thankfulness. Use the image any way it inspires you, just be sure to include a sentiment, journaling, title etc that reflects this month’s theme in honor of Thanksgiving. The challenge is open to everyone, everywhere and you can choose to create a card, tag, layout, canvas, mini-album, altered piece…anything your heart desires. πŸ˜€

For my take on the challenge, I created a layout of my kids in their costumes from last year. They were getting ready to go trick-or-treating in their grandmother’s neighborhood and got tired of posing for pics. Christian was getting distracted and kept watching other people, cars going, by…anything BUT the camera. lol Alex decided to take a breather by resting his weary arms on M&M’s heads. Nice huh? Anyway, I liked how these pics showed their camaraderie and silliness so I chose these pics to show what I’m thankful for. I adore how much they love one another and they, along with Larry, truly are the light in my life.

I combined my dt challenge with the current sketch and title prompt (lyrics from What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction) at Scrap and Music. Here’s what I came up with:

You Light up my World

Here’s a close up of the cluster at the top of my page. I altered the leaves using acrylic paint and used chalk ink to bring out the intricate design on the heart piece:

This close up shows the other 2 clusters towards the bottom of my page:
