Daddy’s Girl – Pagemaps sketch challenge entry

Now that I’m getting back to scrapping, I really really need to use up my older stash. There are several collections in my stash that were already a few years old when I started scrapping, so my current goal is to use my oldest product whenever I can. 😀 For my take on the Pagemaps sketch that was posted on May 22nd, I decided to go with Delightful and Clothesline by Little Yellow Bicycle. They had the perfect shades of pink, purple and blue to go with the photos of my daughter w/her father that I wanted to scrap. I chose the bolder purple and pink to go with her backpack and a light blue that matches her shirt. I then added some old and newer embellies to update the overall look of my page.

Out of all the years our older boys went to school, then our younger two, this was the only year that Larry happened to have off from work and could come with me to drop the kids off for their first day of school. Madison was particularly excited by that as you can see by the expression on her face. She truly is her daddy’s little girl. 😀

Here’s what I came up with for the challenge:

This is the sketch I used:

Materials:

Little Yellow Bicycle papers
Pink Paislee Artisan Elements
Freckled Fawn wood hearts and heart clip
Prima Junkyard Findings zipper pull and camera shaped clip
Dusty Attic chipboard title piece
Queen & Co. bling
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze
white acrylic paint

Adhesives:

Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Scotch ATG
Helmar Acid Free glue

Tools:

Martha Stewart Around the Page punch

Enjoy the Ride – S.W.A.T application layout

There’s a newer challenge site I found recently called S.W.A.T (Scrap Warriors Advanced Training) and they’re currently having a dt call, so I decided to apply. 😀 As part of the application, they ask that you create a layout based on the sketch provided, using one of your favorite trendy techniques. After a long break from scrapping, it was great to find such a fun sketch to work with right off the bat! 😀

For my take on the sketch, I used Webster’s Pages’ Girl Land collection. Let’s face it, if I’m going to continue my WP obsession, I really need to use up some of my stash, right? I chose layered, punched borders as my trendy technique. I figure it’s a trend that has longevity and I love texture and depth it adds to a page.

Here’s what I came up with:

Climb Every Mountain – dt layout for SKWAD

This is the dt layout I created for the October Sketch challenge at SKWAD. Around this time last year, Alex was playing soccer and our other kids were playing on the sidelines during his practices and games each weekend. In these pictures, Christian is trying really hard to make his way up a little hill with a bit of an incline. His new shoes and the grass seemed to create a bit of a challenge for him, so it seemed he might as well have been trying to climb a mountain…thus the title for the page. 🙂 I used Webster’s Pages Sunday Picnic papers and a bit of bling and trim from that collection. Here’s what I came up with for the sketch:
