Imagine Dream Believe Canvas – Creative Embellishments August Challenge

I love the inspiration image for the Creative Embellishments August Challenge. There’s just so much to draw from it! For my take on the challenge I decided to go with a canvas. I was inspired by the mushrooms, fairies and colors from the inspo image. For the twist, I fussy cut butterflies and dragonflies from some older Webster’s Pages journaling cards that I had in my stash. 😀

I started my piece by dabbing the blank canvas with jacquard paints in 2 different shades of purple. You can’t see it well because one is iridescent. Next, I painted my 6″ Large Steampunk Clock piece black and adhered it to the canvas slightly off center. I painted the Mushroom Set 1, Mushroom Set 2 and Mushroom Set 3 with white acrylic paint, then added the details using Pitt Markers. I blended white paint, modeling paste and coarse pumice to create the textured spots on the caps. The Wood Veneer Mushrooms were altered just using markers and the textured blend for the spots.

I then altered the Fairies by painting the wings black and the bodies white. Again, I used Pitt markers to decorate the bodies and jacquard paints to give the wings some iridescent sheen.

I used two of the title pieces from the Dream Word Set and one from the Inspire Word Set and altered them with white paint and marker.

I then added my fussy cut butterflies and dragonflies. 😀

I had a lot of fun with this challenge and I hope you will too! There’s just so much to draw from the inspo image this month and fussy cutting is one of my favorite techniques! 😀

Here’s this month’s inspo image (the twist is to fussy cut). To enter the challenge please be sure you incorporate at least 1 CE product on your project. 😀

Altered Memory Box

Hi everyone! I’m up today on the Creative Embellishments Blog sharing an altered paper mache box. This is actually the second time I’ve altered one of these. The previous one also featured lots of CE goodies, but it was smaller than this version. For this piece, I started out by spraying it down with a Krylon spray called Make it Stone. Once that dried overnight I splattered it first with a lot of different shimmering sprays by Lindy’s Stamp Gang and acrylic paint. I altered all the CE chippies with Liquitex acrylic paint and Jacquard Lumiere paints. Here’s what I came up with:

Creative Embellishments/Heartfelt Creations team up!

I’m a huge fan of Heartfelt Creations’ products. I love their stamps and dies, but more than anything, I LOVE their gorgeous papers, so I was thrilled when I heard about the team up between two such amazing companies! I got to work with HFC’s Once Upon a Time Papersand Celebrate the Journey Papers. Since two other team members used Celebrate the Journey, I primarily used Once Upon a Time for my project along with a few scraps from other HFC papers I already had on hand. This is going to be photo heavy because it’s a paper bag mini album (my first!), using 3 full sized paper lunch bags.

For the cover, I also used these products by Creative Embellishments which I altered by using Smooch inks: Steampunk Timepiece from their 3 piece mini set, a Butterfly from their 3 piece set, Flourish 17 and Photo or Page Corners Set 2. Distressed edges on the papers are inked with Distress Ink and the trims are by Graphic 45 and My Mind’s Eye. I also used the other corner pieces from the set as holders for tags inside the album. :-D

Welcome the Creative Embellishments 1st Anniversary blog hop. I’m honored to be taking part in this momentous occasion! If you stumbled on the hop here, then please go to Creative Embellishments blog for the hop details and begin the hop on Nicolle’s blog here… >> http://nicollelovesscrapbooking.blogspot.com/

I am happy you are here with us today to celebrate the Creative Embellishments 1 year anniversary! To celebrate, we’re having a dt hop and giving away FOUR $25.00 gift vouchers to the store! All you need to do to be entered to win one of the vouchers is leave a comment on the hop post on the CE blog letting them know what your favorite CE product is, then leave some love on each of our design team member’s blogs then follow each blog. We’re each sharing a project with our favorite CE product on it. The winner of the hop will be randomly selected and announced on Monday September 8th.

I LOVE Creative Embellishments’ product, so it was very hard to for to pick a favorite. Their laser cut chipboard is so intricate and lovely, their wood veneers are detailed and darling! Their newest product line, flair, are so awesome to work with and I can’t say enough about their laser etched rubber stamps. Those are awesome for mixed media projects. Since I couldn’t make myself pick a single favorite, I decided to go with two categories. Their frames and title pieces are definite MUST-HAVES!

With my pieces chosen, I decided to create an off the page project for you all today. I hope you like it! 😀
