The Time of Your Life – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog! 😀 This week, for my project I used the Film Strip Picture Frames and the Movie Reel from the “Movie Night” collection. I was also inspired by several challenges, so I combined them to create my project.

For the Flying Unicorn Make a Mess and Clean it Up challenge, you create a super messy mixed media background, then use it as the base of your page. For the Scrap the Boys challenge, you create a page that involves and Outdoor Activity. Then for the Scrap & Music challenge, you use the sketch provided and lyrics from the song Time of Your Life by Green Day for your title. Here’s what I came up with for this combination of challenges:

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Film Strip Picture Frames
Creative Embellishments Movie Reel chipboard piece
Lily Bee papers
Kaisercraft, TCW and Prima masks
Unity Stamps
Stazon Ink
Acrylic paint
Signo white pen
Pitt artist pens
Lily Bee alpha stickers
Scenic Route Alphas
Thickers alphas
TH dies
TH and Prima gears
TH tickets
Prima clip
Prima Junkyard findings

#Happy – dt layout for SWAT {plus 3 challenges}

For my example for the SWAT 3 s’s challenge (stitching, stamping, spray/splatter), I might have gone a little overboard combining with other challenges…I love combining challenges…

Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Social Hash Tags title piece
American Crafts cardstock
Unity Stamps
Smooch mists
Pitt artist pens
rub ons
Freckled Fawn Wood Chips and arrow clip
lace from my stash
Prima stencils
Distress ink, stain and paint
acrylic ink
Harmonie acrylic shapes used as a mask
I am Roses flowers
Prima leaves

I created my page using photos of Madison on a boat themed ride at the York Fair 2 years ago. I figured it would kind of go with the transporation theme with csi case file #87. Working with given palette, I selected arrows, wave shapes, stitching and mist from the evidence column and had my journaling wander across the page for the testimony portion.

This is the inspiration image and palette for case file #87:

To further embellish my page, I incorporated the Flying Unicorn Welcome Back challenge criteria which was a sort of check list of what to include on your page:

Lastly, I always love to incorporate a good sketch, so I decided to play along with the Stuck on U Sketches sketch challenge. Here’s the fabulous sketch I worked with:

Summer Fun – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

I’ll be up on the Creative Embellishments blog each Thursday with a project to share using their fabulous laser cut chipboard and woodsies products. 😀 For my first Thurs. project I created a layout of my son, Alex, on the beach searching for the perfect conch shell. It was also inspired by the Scrap & Music challenge (sketch + U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For). Though the kids all brought home a ton of shells they’d found, he never did find a sizeable conch. In fact, I think the largest he found was the size of a dime! lol

I like keeping things simple, so to alter my chippies, I used a combination of gesso, black and copper acrylic paint, and white acrylic paint to highlight.

Here’s what I came up with:

Materials:

CE nautical collection chippies
CE flourish set #2
CE social hash tag chippies
7 Dots Studio paper and alphaa stickers
acrylic paint
cheesecloth
raffia
Tim Holtz word band, corked bottle, timepiece and spinner
TCW and TH masks
Liquitex acrylic ink
Prima junkyard finding
burlap
natural shells and sand

TFL! Close ups/details shots are available on the CE blog. Would love to see you there! Comments are always appreciated. 😀
