Treasured – Canvas for Creative Embellishments/Heartfelt Creations cross promo

Creative Embellishments and Heartfelt Creations have teamed up once again, so our team got to play around with some wonderful HFC products! I chose the Italiana Riviera Paper Collection to work with. It features gorgeous imagery, lovely purple and green colors with some neutrals and a whole grape and wine theme. For my project, I started by coating my canvas board with black gesso. Once that dried, I sprayed some webbing primarily onto the top and down the center. It only takes about 5 mins to dry, but it’s best to wait an hour before handling. So while I waited for that to dry, I altered my CE Grapevine pieces using gesso, PITT markers, and a Lindy’s Stamp Gang color shot. I also fussy cut tags, a ticket, and some images from the HFC papers. Using the CE Crackled Brick Stencil and some opaque modeling paste, I added the brick details on the background. I then used 2 different Lindy’s magicals and the same color shot I used to alter my chippies to add color and details to the brick pattern once it dried. I then layered, a couple of doilies, flower pieces, and embellishments with the fussy cut papers, tags, and ticket. Last, I adhered the grapevine pieces I’d altered, and cut up one of the flourishes from set 26 that I’d altered using white acrylic paint, and tucked those bits into the cluster. Here’s how my project turned out:

You Light Up My World – layout for Creative Embellishments

Wow! I cannot believe it’s November already! October just flew by and the kids had a blast trick-or-treating. 😀 Anyway, a new month means a new challenge at Creative Embellishments and this month, Nicolle has selected a gorgeous inspiration photo with a theme of gratitude or thankfulness. Use the image any way it inspires you, just be sure to include a sentiment, journaling, title etc that reflects this month’s theme in honor of Thanksgiving. The challenge is open to everyone, everywhere and you can choose to create a card, tag, layout, canvas, mini-album, altered piece…anything your heart desires. 😀

For my take on the challenge, I created a layout of my kids in their costumes from last year. They were getting ready to go trick-or-treating in their grandmother’s neighborhood and got tired of posing for pics. Christian was getting distracted and kept watching other people, cars going, by…anything BUT the camera. lol Alex decided to take a breather by resting his weary arms on M&M’s heads. Nice huh? Anyway, I liked how these pics showed their camaraderie and silliness so I chose these pics to show what I’m thankful for. I adore how much they love one another and they, along with Larry, truly are the light in my life.

I combined my dt challenge with the current sketch and title prompt (lyrics from What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction) at Scrap and Music. Here’s what I came up with:

You Light up my World

Here’s a close up of the cluster at the top of my page. I altered the leaves using acrylic paint and used chalk ink to bring out the intricate design on the heart piece:

Make the Most of It – Art Journal page for SWAT

For my take on the SWAT drill #14 sketch with a twist (stickers NOT Thickers), I decided to create an art journal page. I managed to use 17 different stickers on this single page not including the alphas. Most of them are from Simple Stories, but the one border strip sticker is by My Mind’s Eye. Here’s what I came up with:

Drill #14 sketch:
