Movie Night – dt layout for SWAT drill #24

SWAT’s drill #24 (sketch plus buttons) is now live! For my example I decided to go with pics of my 2 oldest sons, Taten and Alex, from when we went to the movies to see the second Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire, for Taten’s birthday. It’s really hard to get a serious photo of my silly 14 year old. He’s faster than my flash and I can rarely get the photo before he strikes an…interesting…pose. lol I managed to get one out of the two without him hamming it up. 😀 Here’s what I came up with (sorry for the blurry pic of my layout. I have really bad indoor lighting and it was taken at night):

Movie Night

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Movie Night laser cut chipboard set
Graphic 45 pp
gesso
acrylic paint
white sharpie marker
white ink pen
October Afternoon buttons

Hold Me in Your Arms – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Welcome to another Thursday, which means, I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a project to share. Our youngest son is going for eye surgery at 8:45 this morning and it’s got me a little bit freaked, so this week, I went with a layout using a couple of photos from the first time Matthew held him. The whole pregnancy, we were worried about how Matthew would handle having a baby brother. He was so used to being the youngest and seemed to love that role in our family. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised by his reaction. He fell in love w/his baby brother the moment he saw him and 3 1/2 years later, Christian still has Matthew and his other brothers and sister wrapped around his little finger. 😀

I was also inspired by the sketch and song prompt from Scrap and Music sketch #19. Here’s what I came up with:

Hold Me in Your Arms

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Hearts Wood Veneers
CE Conversation Hearts wood veneers
CE Emoticons Wood Veneers
CE 6×6 Chevron panel
CE Chipboard Butterflies
Lily Bee papers, chipboard stickers and cardstock stickers
Webster’s Pages storyteller alphas
gesso
acrylic paint

Here Comes Santa Claus – dt layout for SWAT

SWAT drill #22 is now live! For this challenge, there’s a pagemaps sketch and the twist is to include Santa on your page in some way. For my take on the challenge, I went with photos of my youngest son dressed up like Santa Mickey and used some fabulous Creative Embellishments chippies. One features a silhouette of Santa in his reindeer guided sleigh. Another has his stuck in a chimney and then the title piece of course uses the name “Santa” 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

Here Comes Santa Claus

Here’s a close up of the Santa’s Scroll and quill set. I love this piece! It’s so fun and would be great for layering too:

This is a close up of the chimney piece w/Santa’s boots peeking out:

Here Comes Santa Claus detail 2

This close up shows the title piece layered with the doily frame and Harlequin lattice panel. I had to snip the lead reindeer off of the Santa’s Sleigh piece and still wanted to incorporate it on my page, so I added it to the left of my title:

A Very Merry Christmas – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with another Christmas layout to share using some FABULOUS Creative Embellishments Chipboard pieces! I can’t get enough of the wonderfully intricate snowflakes and this time I went with quite a bit of holly and berries too. 😀 I’ve been loving all the gorgeous CE frames too! This week, I used pics of my son, Matthew, tearing into his pressies. I simply adore his sweet, easy going smile. 😀 For my layout, I was also inspired by a sketch over at Purple Pumpkin, so be sure to check them out as well. 😀 For my take on the Purple Pumpkin sketch I rotated the sketch 90 degrees counterclockwise. Here’s what I created:
