Altered Halloween Album Cover

One of the things I love best about all of Creative Embellishments products is that they make creating a fun, interesting project so quick and easy! The chipboard pieces and the wood veneers are so easy to alter (or leave bare) and add such incredible details, you literally, just add ink, paint, emboss and go! For my project today, all I used was a Tim Holtz cover for the base, a handful of CE’s amazing chippies, one wood veneer spider and some paints to create my entire cover. 😀

Here’s how it turned out:

Crazy 4 U – Creative Embellishments July Challenge + Sketchabilities 142

What’s better than an awesome Creative Embellishments Challenge? Combining it with a fabulous sketch by Sketchabilities! CE is sponsoring Sketch #142, so there are even more ways to win a GC to the Creative Embellishments store! 😀

For the Creative Embellishments July challenge, you just need to combine the inspiration photo with the added twist of adding something wood to your project (layout, card, tag, art journal page, altered piece, etc). This month, we were given the option to also combine the challenge with sketch #142. To check out what everyone came up with, be sure to check out this post on the CE blog: July Challenge

This was such a fun challenge for me! I love Karan’s sketches and am always inspired by them. 😀 I was further inspired by the colors, fence, and flowers from our inspo image. The blades of the windmill also reminded me of mesh, so I used drywall tape that I painted in the background of my design. CE stamps are so much fun to work with, so I used several of them to create my background which had started out as smooth white paper. I used watered down Distress stains for the base and Distress ink and Stazon ink with CE stamps to create my own background for this page. The chippies (flourish and fence) and drywall tape were altered using acrylic paint (both liquitex and Lumiere). For the twist, I left my CE wood veneer pieces bare so you can really see the intricate detailing on them, which they’re known for. 😀

Here’s what I came up with:

Love Everything About You – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

A new month means a new challenge on the Creative Embellishments blog! You do not have to use CE products in order to play along and international entries are welcome. Base your project on the given inspiration image plus incorporate one of the words from the image on your project, then upload it to the CE blog for your chance to win a $20 gc to the store! 😀

This month’s image:

For my example, I started out with solid white cardstock. Since the wispy white lines that are evenly spaced in the inspiration image reminded me of sheet music, I used the CE grunge music note sheet background stamp with matte multi-medium to create a resist. I did not have a text stencil, so I used the closest thing I had, which is a ledger stencil with blended fibers. That also works as a resist. I then went over the whole page with various amounts of black soot distress stain to create a dark background like that of the image. From there, I was inspired by the flourishes, colors and layering. The words I used from the image are Dream, Love and Everything. To help me create the page, I also used the Monday Mojo sketch from Flying Unicorn as inspiration for my page design. Here’s what I came up with:

Love Birds and Young Love – 2 dt layouts for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday again, which means I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog. This week, I have two layouts to share. 😀

I’ve never had a signature style and like to play around and experiment a lot, so my pages range all the way from CAS to very grungy and mixed media. I also love to play around with different challenges and techniques, so I’m a fairly eclectic scrapper. Anyway, this week I’m sharing two very different pages with you that use the same paper collection. For both pages, I used Webster’s Pages In Love papers. They had a bunch of challenges running this last week and I wanted to play along with them. 😀 As a matter of fact, the layout I shared last Thursday won Day 1 of their challenges! 😀

For this first page, I combined a sketch from Stuck on U Sketches (Nicolle, the owner of Creative Embellishments is on their dt) with the Webster’s Pages Scrap Your Stash Day 4 challenge – Use something metallic. I altered my chippies with Design Memory Craft Pitt markers in several different colors including silver. Here’s what I came up with:

Love Birds

For this second page, I took a much cleaner, straight forward approach for the WP Scrap Your Stash Day 5 – sketch challenge. I splattered several shades of shimmer mist onto my page w/the black background, making sure that the wood veneers that were on either side of my title got ample color to them. Here’s how it turned out:

Young Love

I decided to share both pages on the CE blog today to show how versatile Creative Embellishments products really are and how wonderfully they work with any style you can imagine! 😀

Creative Embellishments Love Birds chipboard set
