Create – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. πŸ˜€ CE is sponsoring the Stuck?! Sketches January 15th challenge, so I decided to play along. Webster’s Pages has also had a different challenge posted each day this week on their blog, so I combined their day 1 challenge (monochromatic) with the Stuck?! sketch. πŸ˜€

For my take on the challenges, I decided to go with a pic of 3 of my kids coloring, drawing, cutting and pasting. They love to create and tend to do something artistic every day. The Creative Embellishments Create set was perfect for what I wanted to portray and the steampunk light bulbs helped illustrate their innovative, creative ideas. Here’s what I came up with:

Create

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Create set
CE Steampunk Light Bulbs
CE Conversation Hearts bg stamp
WP Western Romance pp, bloomers, sparkler, whimsy heart and bow
gesso
gelatos
Pitt big brush artist markers
acrylic paint
white sharpie

Movie Night – dt layout for SWAT drill #24

SWAT’s drill #24 (sketch plus buttons) is now live! For my example I decided to go with pics of my 2 oldest sons, Taten and Alex, from when we went to the movies to see the second Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire, for Taten’s birthday. It’s really hard to get a serious photo of my silly 14 year old. He’s faster than my flash and I can rarely get the photo before he strikes an…interesting…pose. lol I managed to get one out of the two without him hamming it up. πŸ˜€ Here’s what I came up with (sorry for the blurry pic of my layout. I have really bad indoor lighting and it was taken at night):

Movie Night

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Movie Night laser cut chipboard set
Graphic 45 pp
gesso
acrylic paint
white sharpie marker
white ink pen
October Afternoon buttons

Sketch for drill #24 (must add buttons for the challenge):

Hold Me in Your Arms – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Welcome to another Thursday, which means, I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a project to share. Our youngest son is going for eye surgery at 8:45 this morning and it’s got me a little bit freaked, so this week, I went with a layout using a couple of photos from the first time Matthew held him. The whole pregnancy, we were worried about how Matthew would handle having a baby brother. He was so used to being the youngest and seemed to love that role in our family. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised by his reaction. He fell in love w/his baby brother the moment he saw him and 3 1/2 years later, Christian still has Matthew and his other brothers and sister wrapped around his little finger. πŸ˜€

I was also inspired by the sketch and song prompt from Scrap and Music sketch #19. Here’s what I came up with:

Hold Me in Your Arms

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Hearts Wood Veneers
CE Conversation Hearts wood veneers
CE Emoticons Wood Veneers
CE 6×6 Chevron panel
CE Chipboard Butterflies
Lily Bee papers, chipboard stickers and cardstock stickers
Webster’s Pages storyteller alphas
gesso
acrylic paint

Capture the Moment – dt layout for Sketchabilities Sketch #107

Sketchabilities sketch #107 is now live! For my example for the challenge, I selected a picture of my oldest son, Taten. It was actually taken about 3 years ago, but it really seemed to suit this sketch. It was taken on the spur of the moment for no particular reason, but I love his joyful nature and wanted a photo that showed just an everyday moment. Here’s what I came up with:

Capture the Moment

Materials:

Creative Embellishments Circles Background Stamp

CE Spider Web 6×6 panel
CE Capture the Moment set
CE Medium View Master Photo Slide
Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic papers and mini tags
acrylic paint
gesso
india ink
distress ink
Pitt Big Brush artist markers
