There’s a new challenge site created by Helen Tilbury called Scrap Around the World. Their first challenge was posted in May, but I didn’t have the opportunity to play along (and it was fantastic!). So this month, I made sure I got to participate. 😀
Putting this page together was kind of a comedy of errors as Murphy’s Law seemed to take full affect on my layout. Each month, SATW offers an inspiration photo board and a fabulous sketch that you use as a jumping off point for your layout. First, as I was inking the edge of my paper, the ink pad tore free of the casing, leaving a large gloppy patch at the top right of my page. lol I’ve never had that happen before and I wasn’t finished inking the edges, so I just went with it and pinched the little pad in my fingers (what a mess!) and finished inking my page. I didn’t find a better solution, so I applied the ink to my stamps the same way. Next, I decided I’d like to replace the rectangular strips under the photo with some drips, but didn’t have ink in the right shade, so I mixed my own which ended up too dark and too blue anyway (and I didn’t find that out until it had already dried to my page). Whoops! After a few other mishaps, including runaway drippies, and paint that refused to dry, I finished my page. Here’s what I came up with:
