Cards with pencil toppers – project for Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone, I’m up on the Creative Embellishments Blog this week with a couple of simple cards for children. Two of my kiddos are in cyber school and I’m always looking for different ways to reward and encourage them for a job well done and sometimes, just to reward their efforts. So quite a while back, I special requested these title pieces in order to use them for my own children and Nicolle was happy to oblige. She totally rocks! 😀 Did you know that if there’s something you have in mind, but do not find it in the store, a quick email to Nicolle could result in having it created for you? Yeah…she’s awesome that way. ;-D

Anyway, I’d originally intended them for tags they could display by their computers like ribbons, but at the last minute, I decided to make these interactive cards, with a reward attached. I’m all about simple these days since I’ve taken on a little more than I can chew for the moment, but I’ll adjust. lol So these cards, could be created with more layers, details, and elements, but I went with simplicity. Here they are assembled:

This is with the toppers removed from the cards. As you can see, I just punched two holes to string the ribbon, or in my case tulle, through.

Here’s how the topper looks attached to a pencil. Tip: If you find that it slides down your pencil, just wrap a small rubber band around the the end of the pencil as a stopper. 😀

#Cute Pup – layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi, everyone! Doris here and after a week off, I’m back with a layout to share! I’ve been hoarding these fun 13arts papers for a little while and finally decided to break them out and use them for a page of my 2nd youngest son. This is an older photo that was taken when he was just 2 1/2 year old, but I couldn’t resist scrapping it using a combination of Creative Embellishments Dog Gone Cute and Firefighter wood veneers. 😀 Here’s what I came up with:

#Cute Smile – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone! It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. This week I went with a few older pics of Madison and Matthew. I’ve already used the best photos from this sitting, so these were ones that were more flattering photos of Matthew. They really show off his sweet smile with his cutie dimples. Somehow, he’s my only kiddo with those deep dimples…not sure how that happened, but I think they’re adorable. 😀

To create my background, I used 3 CE stamps. I started out by stamping the script stamp and the heart shape stamp with Stazon ink, then used embossing ink with the Love Heart stamp and heat embossed using Lindy’s Stamp Gang EP. I used several Prima stencils with chalk ink and Shimmerz Texturez to complete my background.

I decided to finish off my page with some awesome CE wood veneers and a couple of social hashtag words for my title. I was also inspired by CSI-Color Stories Inspiration S365-4 challenge and the Skissedilla sketch #232. Here’s how it turned out:

Here’s a close up of the heart layered on the photos (this piece is from my favorite wood veneer set!). Sorry for the blurry pic. Lately, I’ve had to take a lot of indoor nighttime pics which doesn’t work well for me.

For my example, I chose a photo of 2 of my children taken on the day I pulled them out of the local brick and mortar school after enrolling them into an online cyber school. This was done primarily to improve the quality of their education as well as removing them from an undesirable environment at school. My take on the challenge reflects my dream for a brighter future for my children. 😀 I was also inspired by the Monday Mojo sketch at Flying Unicorn. Here’s what I came up with (the background is actually a deep purple, but photographed as blue):
