Unfortunately, in life there are many occasions in which a sympathy card is warranted to offer your condolences. Creative Embellishments’ new Small Sentiment Words set has a lovely variety of elegant title pieces to suit life’s ups and downs, including “Deepest Sympathy.” Since I now find myself needing to create a card for such a purpose, I’m thankful that CE has thoughtfully created this beautiful set.
For this card, I lightly coated the pieces with watered down gesso so the etching could still be seen after altering the Coneflower piece. I used an acrylic glaze and applied sheer layers to create a slight ombre effect on the petals. To alter the frame and title pieces I used acrylic paint. The gold tone was created by mixing gold with a touch of bronze to deepen the shade a touch. I don’t have navy paint, so I combined royal blue with black. It’s a very simple card, but made with a love and care, so I do hope it helps bring the recipient comfort in this trying time.
Angled shots to show the dimension created by the laser cut chipboard. I usually paint the sides and exposed edges, but neglected to do so this time:
I added Mini Prills to the flowers to give them added texture. Here you can see how the etching on the chipboard pieces add subtle details to the pieces even after being altered:
