Brother & Sister – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Wow! I can’t believe it’s Thursday already! Time has been flying by so quickly! I’m up today with a layout to share on the Creative Embellishments blog. For my layout this week, I continued with pics from the same sitting as last Thursday’s page, but this time it features both Madison and Matthew. They are so cute together and as close as ever. I altered my chippies and wood pieces by applying a light coat of gesso, staining with Tim Holtz distress stains and highlighting with a white signo pen. My page was also inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch at Flying Unicorn

I’ve been struggling lately with my pages not turning out quite how I’d intended. It’s always a learning process and still fun to play around and keep on trying different things. The lower left portion w/my title is how I’d envisioned, but the rest isn’t quite where I’d wanted it to be and that is OKAY. Learning to let go and let it be is all part of the process. ๐Ÿ˜€ Here’s how my page turned out:

#Cute Smile – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone! It’s Thursday, so I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to share. This week I went with a few older pics of Madison and Matthew. I’ve already used the best photos from this sitting, so these were ones that were more flattering photos of Matthew. They really show off his sweet smile with his cutie dimples. Somehow, he’s my only kiddo with those deep dimples…not sure how that happened, but I think they’re adorable. ๐Ÿ˜€

To create my background, I used 3 CE stamps. I started out by stamping the script stamp and the heart shape stamp with Stazon ink, then used embossing ink with the Love Heart stamp and heat embossed using Lindy’s Stamp Gang EP. I used several Prima stencils with chalk ink and Shimmerz Texturez to complete my background.

I decided to finish off my page with some awesome CE wood veneers and a couple of social hashtag words for my title. I was also inspired by CSI-Color Stories Inspiration S365-4 challenge and the Skissedilla sketch #232. Here’s how it turned out:

Here’s a close up of the heart layered on the photos (this piece is from my favorite wood veneer set!). Sorry for the blurry pic. Lately, I’ve had to take a lot of indoor nighttime pics which doesn’t work well for me.

#LOVE – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

Hi, everyone! I’m up on the Creative Embellishments blog with a layout to shareโ€ฆI know, I knowโ€ฆIโ€™m normally on on Thursdays, but Nicolle was kind enough to switch days with me this week to give me an extra day due to personal issues. For my layout today, I decided to use more pics from the set I used on the Feb challenge example page. To alter my chippies I coated lightly with gesso and used chalk inks to cover and give them a blended distressed edge.

I was also inspired by case file #108 at CSI (Color Stories Inspiration), Heart Challenge at Flying Unicorn. Also based on sketch #2 from the Pagedrafts sketches.

I love the versatility of CE chipboard borders and panels. For this page, I ended up snipping apart both the Hearts Panel and the Love Knot Border to use across my page. Hereโ€™s what I came up with:

Love Everything About You – dt layout for Creative Embellishments

A new month means a new challenge on the Creative Embellishments blog! You do not have to use CE products in order to play along and international entries are welcome. Base your project on the given inspiration image plus incorporate one of the words from the image on your project, then upload it to the CE blog for your chance to win a $20 gc to the store! ๐Ÿ˜€

This month’s image:

For my example, I started out with solid white cardstock. Since the wispy white lines that are evenly spaced in the inspiration image reminded me of sheet music, I used the CE grunge music note sheet background stamp with matte multi-medium to create a resist. I did not have a text stencil, so I used the closest thing I had, which is a ledger stencil with blended fibers. That also works as a resist. I then went over the whole page with various amounts of black soot distress stain to create a dark background like that of the image. From there, I was inspired by the flourishes, colors and layering. The words I used from the image are Dream, Love and Everything. To help me create the page, I also used the Monday Mojo sketch from Flying Unicorn as inspiration for my page design. Here’s what I came up with:
